tian gan is the jia yi bing ding etc. ten of them.
di zhi is the one u see accompanying the 12 zodiac animals (zi,
chou.....) usually for indicating time.
when put together, it is shortened as "gan zhi". it's the way u
name the 60-year cycle in the chinese calendar.
