Guns in serangoon gardens

Dr Who SG

Police officers from the Special Operations Command (SOC) were deployed in Serangoon Gardens on Thursday evening in the first armed patrols in a housing area.

They strolled near the crowded hawker centres with their submachine guns.

If singaporeans get blown up while eating fried kuay tiao for supper.... then you know that terror had strike into the hearts of singpaporean.

Moxie SG

Not PC to say this, but I think it's starting to be a joke. My friend tipped me off about watching out for the news telecast, & said photographers were clicking away as a crowd followed the SOC patrol from behind (like a ministerial walkabout).

Until the novelty wears out, I'm guessing those guys will feel very self-conscious.

ditzy SG

I pity the guys on patrol cannot sit down with their guns on their laps and enjoy orh lua and cup of teh. Laughing

Imagine trying to take a piss while they are standing behind you with their MP5s, that would indeed be a stressful peace( punt intended ).

ditzy SG

govt want to faster protect rich and ‘angmoh’ areas like serangoon gardens bukit timah and holland village first ah….then after that then go to places where the ‘peasant singaporeans’ live like toa payoh and ang moh kio….cb govt.

Danisdead101times SG

Shocked really? then did they search anything in the end?

palmerised SG

ROFL!

KumSioJui SG

seems like ever since 911 police have been given more teeth now and can openly carry submachine guns in public.

One day they will get armored V200 APC and EC120 light gunship helicopters.

LazerLordz SG

The merging of police forces and PDF.That would not be very palatable, as it would erode the separation of peace time security and military control.

palmerised SG

...you really think so?

"peace through superior firepower"

Moxie SG

I wonder if these SOC patrols would eventually be replaced by KINS personnel. The latter's been in higher profile this year, a triple whammy of open-mob activation, 2 units-on-standby (both for the 1st time) & the operational opening of their new PKTC camp (which has FIBUA facilities).

CISCO's going to be out of work! Wink

sgboy2005 SG

you are back in sg?

ditzy SG
