AFAIK in the US forces they cannot choose but assigned to. hence
BOZO, MOE, CURLY and all non-macho callsigns. They are mainly based
on their names, characteristics or some incidents that happen
during training days. This is not Hollywood where everybody have
macho sounding callsigns like MAVERICK, ICEMAN, VIPER, COUGAR
