I think the most distinctive difference between Infantry, Guards
and Commandos are:
- The training they go through (Guardsman have to pass their Guards
Conversion course and Commandos have to pass BCT and BAC....) this
made them more specialised compared to conventional
Infantryman.
- Scope of operation (Infantry are the main fighting backbone of
the army, they engage the enemies directly in battle, Like
Infantry, only that Guardsman are trained at a higher level to
enable them to be more vesatille, they could be inserted at any
point of time during battle using helis, on the other hand,
Commandos are rather differnet, they are usually inserted using
airborne to conduct sabotage/ Recce missions on the enemies instead
of engaging large scale enemies directly.)
- Degree of self-sufficiency (Every commando have to be trained to
be proficient with at least one skill, medic, demolitions, sniper,
boatman etc... this allow them to be self sufficent and survive on
their on during missions, this makes them different from
Infantryman and Guardsman)
