why pay when can read for free?

I am currently write a Business Plan for a Comic shop in Sg selling and rental of Chinese Comics only.

Can anyone gives me some idea and essential things i need to know ?

Hmmm, I believe some things you must consider are:

1. Location
2. Customer demographic (age, gender, etc)
3. Finance (e.g. bank loan, rental, expenses, etc)
4. Legal issues (e.g. rental of premises, etc)
5. Layout of the store (fixtures, shelves, etc)
6. Prices of comics
7. Balance sheet and profit-loss statement to determine when you will breakeven, and to assess whether the venture will be viable.

Comics in Sg quite ex, especially the taiwan version. And, most ppl prefer the taiwan version to the Sg version. If there is some way u can lower the price of taiwan version, u can win all the other comics shop.

Estimated demand, and costing of the shop. From there you can see your revenues and profit. You also have to gauge how many copies per day to reach BE. Do sensitivity analysis to see how much variation in revenue/cost will affect your business.

Have to see growth potential and evaluate the location of the store. Also, prepare an option chart with different contingency plans depending on success/failure. Also initiate milestone plan to show what constitutes failure/success, and have your option chart to follow on the milestones planned.

Importantly, think towards growth. How to brand your shop. Or how to provide a value proposition that only your store can offer. As your kind of business has no true barrier to entry, you have to increase the value of your store through some form of differentiation or play on people's perception.

I have little experience with this kind of store, but i suppose most would not make it a retail store, but more of a rental business with food/drink sideline. Also institute a rewards program or package rental/purchase deal to ensure repeat customers.

Importantly is your staff. They are your frontline. You have to tie their salary to performance. Everyone give blackface or poor service, no one would want to go to your store. This implies a certain level of HR control. You also have to determine how large your organisation wants to grow.

This is great view, about your first point i have calculated and estimated everything, but i don't quite understand your chart view.

The shop i am think will include drinks and snack too.

About staff i think i won't hire first as its just a small business.

I am trying to calculate my monthly revenue and breakevent ~

hey i think u shld also think of how u're going to mrkt ur store.
wats ur selling pt, how to attract consumers n wat forms of approach n tactics u shld use to achieve ur sales target........

find one whereby other shops biz complement ur biz eg. food and drink stall next to yours that also provide tables and chairs for their food biz.

i like S'pore version more leh, cheaper and not bad quality also. just that taiwan imported got more titles to choose from.

but if got both version, confirm go for local printed ones.

Yeah local books is more affordable for most people, since some only want to read and not collect so the version will not be so important.

For collector wise they will prefer taiwan books, cause the pages will not turn yellow.

Do you have a sustainable competitive advantage?

An advantage that can't be easily copied by other competitors? If not, there's really no point in starting this business.

Competing by being a low cost player for a beginner entrepreneur is an uphill task. Those already in business can easily lower their cost to drive you out.

So the question is still, do you have a sustainable competitive advantage?
