1. No longer Chinese ? LOL , perhaps you don't speak mandarin as
well..
As what pple say, yellow on outside , white on inside..
2. Perhaps as hard as some pple try, to wash off the old culture
and adopt
american "Values"
3. I still prefer a mix of chinese and western culture..
Extracting the goodness of both..
4. Singaporean is a nationality..not a race
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Too bad, its impossible to erase skin color and make everyone
the same..
Your neighbours, even if you don't see yourself as a "chinese" but
as
"singaporean" , they still view sg as a "chinese enclave"
6. If PAP don't spend that much , i don't think you will be here
writing this post
you will be subjected under the same thing in which happened
in
Indonesia 1998..go read up more on history books please
(Note that nations with of 1 certain race of majority like what
happened in Kosovo and what they did to the minority, can happen
ANYTIME , the term used is "Ethnic Cleaning")
Don't forget even a few hundred years before, Admiral Cheng Ho ,
onced made it around Malacca Strait Area..
They are acquiring a number of soviet made ships , even if not a
threat for say..30 years..i think it will be in at least 50
years..
After all , china's neighbours other then india and russia for the
next 50 years
to come..could very well be threatened cause their military defense
level
is very low
Whatever happens to China, will affect the world..
China at most damaged only for 10 or 20 years ,
just look at the WWII Japan , so many parts bombed by USA and kena
2 atomic bombs...after WWII , industralising rapidly..
and stuffs..

On May 13th and 14th, there were organized riots targeted
deliberately against the Chinese in Jakarta, the capital of
Indonesia. Homes and business buildings were set on fire, stores
looted, and many women, aged ten through sixties, were raped. Some
of them were gang raped right in front of cheering crowds. Some
suffered further bodily harm in their private parts as a result of
struggling against them, some were tossed into fires and left to
die.
During that horrible 48-hour period, the Indonesian authorities did
little to protect the Chinese or to control the mobs. Adding to the
insults of those terrible tragedies, some government officials and
community leaders even blamed the Chinese themselves. It makes one
wonder if the government instigated the riots.
In this age, how did the international community every where, who
advocate human rights, fail to take notice of these gross human
rights violations against the Chinese minority in Indonesia?
According to a survey made by rescue organizations, there were more
than 300 women and girls raped in Jakarta alone, and more than a
thousand elsewhere throughout the country during these two days of
rampage.
The Chinese did not dare to protest on the street for fear of a
return of the 1967 anti-Chinese riots that caused tens of thousands
of deaths and a huge loss of personal property. We Chinese, most of
whom have lived in Indonesia for generations, without political
power or even voice, have been forced to suffer great human
indignity in silence.
We are counting on the international communities to spread the news
of our sufferings, and bring our voices to let other peoples know
how the Indonesian government has failed to protect the human
rights and properties of its minorities.
We earnestly hope that you, the citizens of the world, will contact
the Indonesian embassies in your countries to protest loudly in our
behalf.
We are in gratitude for whatever you can do to deliver us from this
intolerable sufferance.

Mind you, Indonesia is less then 100km away from our nearest
shore..
6 Years Ago Niah, Im Glad Singapore got kicked out
, or else if ethnic cleansing happens , i dare not imagine ..what
will happen..
The memory is quite fresh..
