To speak or not
SOME students are questioning the practice of awarding points for
class participation in universities.
Followyourpath writes:
"Does such a grading system discriminate against those who prefer
to take a longer time to think about issues rather than raising
them?"
Superficial_whimsy adds:
"The main complaint I have heard is that when forced to speak up,
what most students say has no meaning at all."

Saluting widow
SOME Singaporeans are appluading Madam Chow Ai Hwa, an 80-year-old
widow who is fighting against the collective sale of Eng Lok
Mansion, where she lives.
Merlion says: "At this
age, money means nothing to her. She wants to be near her memories.
She is crying out for the right to live her final years in familiar
surroundings where she's spent most of her life. Have some
heart."
Honour6 adds: "What with
the court charges and her neighbour who are willing to sell their
flats - I really admire this 80-year-old widow! Despite knowing the
odds are against her, she is prepared to fight for ther
rights."
