Why don't reservist officers use their ranks in names?

Haha.. in a year's time you will face the same problem, writing " 2LT" instead of " LTA". Takes some getting used to.

Sardaukar SG

Why don't reservist officers use their ranks in front of their names? Is there something wrong with being associated with the SAF in working life? Why isn't it used as a point of pride?

We are a nation of soldiers, reluctant thought many of us may be,and we should feel some pride in displaying something that is inherent in our identity.

the Bear SG

to be brutally blunt about it... it serves no purpose whatsoever...

ditzy SG

Must ask oneself:"officer big fcuk?!". Very Happy

superworm99 SG

being an NS lieutenant, i say e rank is outside... so y use something useless? be more practical

Gordonator SG

u crazy ah. not every1 is so garang until like that. Laughing although sometimes i have thought about it. for example, u are filling in a form and the 1st thing is your name (see below)

Name (Mr/Miss/Mrs/Mdm) ____________________

then how, u write down your rank ah? LTA(NS) xxx.

maybe if u are a high ranking regular officer, like MAJ or LTC, then maybe can put. more shiok that way. a LTA(NS) put his rank for what, somemore a NSman. Rolling Eyes

Mayb its our culture. We asians r more on the practical side.
It will take time for the next generation to educate them 2 appreciate "pride." Rolling Eyes

sgFish SG

lol...true

Obersturmfuhrer SG

Simply put it, too many LTA so no point. It’s just too common. Ppl only put them if they’re Generals, maybe some COLs as well.

deathscythe99 SG

Usu when COL or Generals liao ah, no need application form la. They create their own companies ^_

storywolf SG

sorry pal, there is legal law that only allow LTC and above to put their rank in front of their name. Below that rank , you are breaking the law.

malcolmloke SG

This is interesting. May I know which law ? Very Happy

esesce SG

Law or not, I'm sure most of us are not so bey hiao bai as to write LTA (NS) Tan Ah Kow. Seriously lor, LTA big fark ah?? Want to put, at least make sure you are a COL (NS). Rolling Eyes

malcolmloke SG

yeah I agree but I'm just curious if there is really such a "law" to it?

Seriously lah, no point trying to "bring over" your NS ranks to working world, especially the private sector. It's the capabilities that count not the (NS) rank.

kopiosatu SG

The only time u use (NS) is when you go back for ICT… That’s when its most useful!!!!

Noeyessee SG

if retired... put as LTA(RET) OR CAP(RET)...

RET not retarded Very Happy

BaByBoY SG

x 3

malcolmloke SG

Haha... yeah

NSman biggest F* lor. Even if PTE (NS), the regular also will give face. At least that's what I noticed when I went for in camp training. Smile

Noeyessee SG

chibilian complains,they kena comdemns…

Gordonator SG

in the civilian world, if u put your rank rank in fornt of your name, people will think what the hell are you trying to prove. that u are a garang person is it? so garang u must put your rank eventhough u ORD liao. come on lah, not just u had been through army, almost all male citizen of age 18 above have been through army.
