GSXR~RACER SG is that allowed that my frens driving my car while the insurance does not have their names in it??? i used to drive their's too, but not sure will b in trouble onot.
tca27 SG ok to let them drive as insurance has a statement that says if they are driving wif your permission then it’s ok. Juz make sure that they dont do anything foolish or u shall be accountable.
free4ever SG Should be ok to drive with your permission. There is something called "unnamed driver" which there are probably some excess (the first $xxx or $xxxx) that you have to pay in the event of accident (touchwood) before insurance covers.
kopiosatu SG check your insurance if you put 'any driver' in it... I can't remember if 'any driver' is the correct term anyway, to answer your question. your friends can drive your car, but if any accident happens, it won't be covered.
silv3rgal SG hmm.. i heard new drivers will have to spend lots more on Insurance right? Is there anyway we can get our family members with lots more of driving experience to buy on our behalf? Hmm..around how much does insurance cost anyway? Lolz.. i'm a lil' noob here.. so gotta ask some noob questions.. hope you guys don't mind...
tca27 SG The insurance will be named to whoever is the owner of the registered vehicle. U wont be able to have a family member with more years of experience or no claim discount to apply for insurance if i am not wrong.
tca27 SG An extract for basis on insurance premium : How does the insurer set my premium? Most insurers in Singapore adopt a risk factor rating system when setting your premium. This means that the premium is based on factors other than the vehicles value or the price you paid for it. In general, the following risk factors are considered when setting your premium: Make and model of vehicle Engine capacity Age of vehicle Age, sex and occupation of drivers Driving experience of drivers Claims history of drivers What vehicle will be used for (private use/corporate use/commercial use/hire etc) Type of cover These risk factors will not necessarily have an equal influence on the size of your premium. Your insurer will give each risk factor a weighting based on a range of statistics and past claims information. - A general rule of thumb : The younger u are the higher your premium and it's usually in the >1000 range.
tca27 SG yup insurance premium usually yearly basis as it coincides with the renewal of your road tax
