The official allowed list , is just that. "official".
What you are allowed to bring , is up to your Coy commander.
For instance, my particular batch could not bring any outside food
in, nor any discmans/walkmans. Additionally, there was a time when
no ciggerates, or handphones were allowed too.
Our Sergeant Major was a health freak who forbide any titbits of
any sort. No sweet, cola, or whatver.
It is advised to NOT bring anything your not supposed to. When you
are a Recruit, every one else is higher than you. If you bring in,
never found, you lucky. If not, you may get charge or have to burn
your weekend.
