I did my NS first and then went overseas to uni.
A few advantages... you are more able to look after yourself in
every sense of the word. Cooking, washing, cleaning, organising
your daily life (no family to help you). Plus, assuming you were in
some combat vocation, you know how to defend yourself, assess your
own security in an unfamiliar environment etc etc.
One more added benefit, you are going to be among the older
students, in a foreigh university (altho' I have met Isrealis,
Spanish and French students who did their own country's national
service programme). THat means you are of the right age to "pull"
ang-moh girls who are going to be 17 or 18 years old, compared to
your 20 or 21 !!!
