I also heard that the British Harrier constantly won in mock
dogfights against US pilots and aircrafts.
What are u trying to imply? Isnt it that the capability of the
RMAF's MiG is also by hear say?
Anyway, time to seriously consider the RMAF threat when deciding
the next generation fighter aircraft.
We constantly review our threat assessment and definately we
will look at the RMAF when deciding the next generation fighter
aircraft. All three of our contenders are capable of dealing with
the emerging threat so im quite confident that our airforce will
still dominate the air.
Singapore should find a budget and a role for the Harrier
aircraft. Though is is an old aircraft and can't fly very fast, its
VSTOL properties will be great especially if runways of our 3
airbase are cratered.
Even if we need a STOL/VTOL aircraft, why should we look at the
Harriers while Harrier operators are now discussing how to scrape
their fleet in the near future? If we really need such an aircraft,
we will go for the F-35B.
Anyway if we will to consider Singapore's geographical size, with
or without the Harriers, any barrage on Singapore is equally
undesirable. So with or without the Harriers, neutralising the
enemy's artillery should be our number 1 piority. I dun see that we
should get the Harriers, but perhaps the JSF in the future if it's
VTOL take off weight is capable of carrying the load we
require.
*harrier TO weight is quite low.
Hey, as someone suggested, we can turn our LSTs into aircraft
carriers! : )
I am still laughing at the Malaysian CDF, please dun let mi
laugh at you. Go to WAFF and read my post. A LST is a LST, a CV is
a CV.
Cheers.
