Hi, any one used simota air intake system before? how does it affect the car? performance and FC? is it LTA legal? Thanks.

It's main purpose is usually to give power. Cause cool air have a higher concentration of oxygen, thus will give you better combustion. Haven't heard about people mentioning about FC improvement. However, take note that poorly designed CAI will actually weaken your low end power. Many incident of FC worsen because in Singapore, low-end is more frequently used.

Actually, wbucket is right to say that cool airs are better for combustions. Also, having the system will actually increase your FC. Because the system does not have a ‘cover’ like the original one, there is simply zero resistance, and thus more air=more fuel, and more air+more fuel = more power, louder ‘noise’.

Wise choice! Where some commented about its useless, others sworn by its aid in overall engine improvement. But ultimately, it is supposed to save you some money. Have fun trying.

its not a rule of the thumb that ur fc will decrease with the use of an intake.

ideally, for best fc, one part of fuel needs to be combusted with 14.7 parts of oxygen. that results in complete combustion in an ideal environment. most cars already run richer on the stock ecu program as a matter of safeguarding the health of the engine. adding a free flowing intake in this case helps to even out the a/f ratio.

besides getting a more responsive engine, u find that u actually depress less on the accelerator (to get more air into ur engine) in order to get ur car moving (ie, less fuel being squirted into ur combustion chambers to achieve the same effect with a restrictive stock intake). the downside to it is a slightly more audible induction note and less filtrative abilities of the filter in keeping out tiny particles, which IMO, hardly affects the well being of ur engine.

when my aircon's on, my intake is 0.02, which is under the lean category.

when my bloody aircon's on, it again flutuates between lean and rich. frustrating!

err, meant "lean" in a sense that u have measured it using a wide band o2 sensor or "lean in some other sense? Confused

i dun get u. so when its on, it fluctuates or goes lean? in closed loop and at idle, the ecu will continously adjust the a/f using feedbacks from all sensors to keep the a/f at 14.7:1. its normal for the a/f to fluctuate around this point.

dunno leh...went 2 TC 2 service the car 4 reg maint...then they went 2 reset the ECU again and the readings came out for the A/F mixture as lean

u read its as "lean" when u juz started up the car? o2 sensors need time to warm up to operating temps before it gives an accurate reading. its also possible that ur ecu will take some time to self learn again after being reset. should be ok after driving around abit. Wink
