Best warships for operation in SEA waters

You see....when firing at a ship in the old days a series of rounds was fired into the area....with the hope that at least 1 would hit considering how "slow" the bigger ships are.For smaller boats like you're mini boat it would be hard but the splash and wave caused by the round falling in could tip it over.And how is it aimed?Well there are a series of presets.They can set 30knots as speed then say 50km as range and everything is calculated...all the need is to point and shoot.The wonders of technology Mr. Green
Well like you said small ships and larger ships both have they're own vulnerbilities.Small ships are generally more unstable when going fast and cannot be armed very well due to lack of space and weight.While big ships are stable even when going fast but take a hell of a lot of time to turn.They however make up for that with more punch.
Honestly if you wanted a fast boat with a big punch, the current MGB's would be perfect!!!which is why they are still around with us until now!!
However they cant go up rivers....which is where the river patorl boats come in.These are light,fast and shallow boats meant for the calm and shallow waters of a river.They however cannot be heavily armed.Maybe 4 machine guns a few rockets(20mm kinds) or recoiless guns......and a small motar(60mm?). that's about it.However once out in open waters.....the river craft would tip over if moving too fast.

neither is better..thats where combined arms comes in..you need the small guys and the big guys..

yeah the MGB is good for now..i hope the RSN keeps the MGBs when the formidables come..but that most prolly won't be the case Crying or Very sad

The MGBs are here to stay for a reason.Even if transferred to a maturing Coast Guard, it would improve their firepower quite substantially.Gabriel, Harpoon Block I, 76 OTO Melara gun, which CG vessel would have that?ST Marine should specialise in this sized platform in the long term.

lol..coast guard operating missiles?

my guess is that the gabriels would be transferred to the 6 PVs, and the gunboat given to the PCG without the missiles.

oh and the MGB uses a 57mm/70 bofors gun, not a 76 oto melera.

when i visitied the navy open house, i realised that the bofors gun was operated from the gun itself..meaning that the gunner sits in the gun.. how does he aim the thing then?

My bad.I think the developments in the future might mean we could perhaps turn over more control of local patrolling to the Coast Guard, and let the Navy move pn to bigger pastures.

well, i went in the gun la..and inside got firing controls, rocket launcher controls (the rails on the sides are for rockets according to the navy guy) and the reloading thing..anyone know wad is the ROF of our 57mm/70 bofors is?
