Release of accelerating pedal

i drive an auto sunny 1.6

Just wanted to ask the rest of the nissan drivers who have also driven other cars this question.

Have you all realise that when you release the accelerate pedal, there is a sudden decrease in speed then when you shift to neutral gear. Also, the sudden decrease in speed is far more significance than that compared to that of another brand of auto car.

Please advise.

it's normal to have more decrease in speed when the gear is engaged as compared to neutral because of the pulling force of the engine. the revolution rate of the engine drops when gas is released, hence slowing the wheels.

for the comparision with other car makes, i think it has something to do with the flywheel factor. anyone can elaborate?

The difference might be becos of better engine braking, but it might also be worst technology in comparison with other car makes... as it is not smooth deceleration causing the driver to be able to feel the difference..

In additional, the diff might be man created factor for eg.... releaseing the accelerator pedal in an abrupt manner.

However, there should be no problem with the car.

Hey people,

I think we are NOT SUPPOSED to shift to Neutral from Drive while the car is in motion. By doing so, you actually cause harm to the auto transmission...

Its not about saving some petrol... Its about causing premature damage to the auto transmission..

Im not actually a mechanic, but if there are any mechanics here, pls do feel free to agree, or if i am wrong, disagree with me.

yea and also dun ever shift to neutral even while waiting…heard that it causes pretature failure too….and it does not help improving fuel consumption

never allow ur auto car to move long distance in neutral mode. try goin into neutral gear when u come down from mount faber. when u reach e bottom ur auto tramsmission is gone.

Hmmm.. guess the only reason for there to be a Neutral gear at all for an auto car is that it is needed when the car is being towed.

i've been told that shifting to neutral while waiting may be useful in circumstances when you've been working your brakes really hard.

putting the car in neutral gear allows you to release the brakes while waiting; this reduces contact time between the brake pads and brake discs and helps prevent warping of the discs.

In normal road situation you will not be working your brakes hard until ur discs warp. shifting to neutral do you still need to pull your hand brakes??

auto car aint towed like manuals cars. if its being towed that way e gearbox will be gone. it has to be supported by a pair of "rollers" instead.

Neutral gear is if u need to idle ur car for more than 10mins.

No matter AT or MT, how your car is towed, whether from the front or from the back, depends on whether your car is rear or front wheel driven. If yours is front, then your front two wheels will be lifted and the rear to follow, and vice versa. For those rollers, yes its for 4WD vehicles.

nonsense.

auto and manual cars are towed the same way depending on whether the gearbox is driving the front, rear or all 4 wheels. whether u engage neutral or not doesn't even matter if u tow the right wheels.
