I heard other companies in my camp are going to implement the 5-day week for the new birds who just enlisted... sadly, I will still be burning my saturdays as I am going to leave my unit soon and there apparently isn't enough time to change to training plan. Crying or Very sad

do agree with ya. seriously, how many long weekend can we really have? clerk duties, guard duties, weekend excerise, AHM training, Army Healthy Lifestyle, Unit out-camp run n so.
doubt we will really get the long weekend.

saying tat our working hr will increase to balance the working hr every week. pls, i been reporting for duties from 7:30am to 5:30pm/6:00pm everyday. I already do more than the require hrs liao.

I see lots of talks, but no action seem to be applied yet.

Give me the allowance raise, tat's better! Laughing

My guess is that the immediate effect will be the likely redesigning of the daily timetable (training programme). What's the existing format - 8 time periods a day? Without normal Saturday training, they may increase the total to 9, maybe 10, but shorten each time period to, say, 40 minutes.

That'll open up more flexibility but doesn't overextend on the first- & last-parade hours too unrealistically.

ok, confirmation from commander's conference in the afternoon.

5 day week does not apply to training schools, NSFs or NSmen.. that's the RSAF side anyway

oh yeah. my 5day week thing start next week.
but sound damn bad.. cos my co say.. weekend burnt due to exercise cannot claim off. WTF! Already no OFF for bonus liao. den now still chupt this type of pattern! sad man!

To kopi: I'm in training school now. and my unit still offer 5 days work.. That for my formation lah. Other formations, no idea.

That’s the sad reality of directives passed down the line unitl the original intent gets garbled.It doesn’t take a HR genius that you can give OIL for those fellas who had exercise.It’s just a case of double standards.

The Manpower Directive for 5-day week has been passed down. Main higlights:

Work reduction of 45-hour-week to 42-hour-week in line with Public Service Department. This will benefit NSFs as well. Working hours should preferably not be extended on weekdays to make up for loss of training on Saturdays but more efficient ways of trainings are recommended.
Basic qualification courses like PTP, BMT, OCC, BSLC and ASLC will continue to have 5½ day week, but i know it does not affect BTT (OETI).
This should take effect from work week starting Monday, 6th Sept.

As for allowance increases for those with specialist ranks and below, we'll have to wait for the annoucement.

oh yes of course allowance and pay increased! but dont expect to see any diff in your next payslip.

why?

cos you are now working 42 hrs instead of 44, but you are not suffering a pay cut. so in effect, your pay / allowance increased lor. Mr. Green

the key to all these changes is that operational readiness and training must not be affected.

so depending on the upper echelons of your service, it may end up just having more OTs. Wink

ya lor... my working hr increase by an hr everyday instead.

and damn it... my duty hrs had been from 7:30am to 5:30pm all the while. with 30mins detuct of lunch and 30mins extra of work at the end of the day. I already have work more than the required 45hrs.

it's a system tat cant be fair.
