narrow-minded.
so you think NCC all very siao on army?
look in the SAF forum and u'll see how much the NSFs/NSmen detest
NCC. scouts and guides have crime prevention, but we as NPCC
receive better training in crime prevention as we have a direct
relation to the SPF. we also have qualified first aiders in NPCC,
so don't think we are so helpless.
as said before, NPCC is only a CCA, therefore to have ah bengs in
it is unavoidable. so you trying to say, army don't have ah bengs?
PNS dun have ah bengs? why dun u say scrap PNS, scrap NS, because
inside got a lot of ah bengs? we also cannot control the type of
people we get because they are the ones who join, and not all
schools conduct trials to select cadets. i'll give u a suggestion,
why not scrap yourself and your stupid ideas?
look, ug are there for a reason. join ncc to get the
feel of army. want to learn specialise in first aid? join red cross
and st john. want fun, go scouts and guides. feel holy? join bb/gb.
and npcc leh? wear police uni and nv do police stuffs.
so tell me, what police stuffs have u learned in npcc? catch
thieves? solve crimes? go patrol in the neighbourhood? no? and den
why are u wearing the police uniform? and police learn campcraft
for what? police need to camp ar? if u're talking about setting up
the 4-man tent for the dead often seen in the tv, can understand
la. but do police really need pioneering?
npcc has ah bengs = facts, not stereotyping. unless u dared to tell
me npcc no ah bengs. so what other ug have gangsters, it doesnt
matter. but npcc? the ug supposingly a police youth group. and
gangsters in npcc, is it right? think yourself.
join NCC to get a feel of the army?

all the SAF forum guys will laugh their asses off at your ignorant
comments. did u even know that SPF sends their people to experience
our Adventure Training Facilities at our Ubin campsite? such
activities foster bonds and develop teamwork.
although we are not appointed as Police Officers, we are also under
the SPF and MOE, under the CSSP wing. next year, NPCC and SPF are
launching a pilot programme called Police Youth Ambassadors for Sec
3 cadets. other police stuff we learn, all sec 3 cadets will have a
chance to attend Police Knowledge courses held annually, which will
teach them about the police force, its mission and goals, its
hierachy and divisions, the more common crimes and the various
punishments meted out to criminals convicted of these crimes.
what exactly do we learn in NPCC? we are the largest uniformed
group in Singapore, therefore we have to have a wide range of
activities to cater to different cadets.
- Drills (basic, advanced, baton, rifle, flag)
- .22 revolver practice and live-firing
- .177 air rifle (some units)
- Campcraft e.g. pioneering, tent-pitching, flagstaff,
field-cooking
- Kayaking
- First aid
- Leadership and mentoring skills courses
- ATC (adventure training camp at pulau ubin)
- ATF (high, low elements, at ubin)
- National heritage tour
- Service Day (a day where cadets go around the neighbourhood and
promote crime prevention to the residents)
- Police-related courses, e.g. Police youth ambassadors, police
knowledge
- Vists to police departments e.g. land divisions, K9 unit, CID,
Police heritage centre, public affairs dept
- Non-police related courses e.g. Civil defence, SANA.
- And more.
With all these courses avaliable for the cadets, I don't see why
NPCC is so meaningless to you. I wouldn't even start on what CIs
and HOs learn in their respective CIBTCs or HOBTCs.
so what if most of our activities don't focus on Police-related
stuff. not all of NCC's activities focus on Army-related stuff too.
NPCC is not there to give u a feel of what its like to be in
Police, because we are in the first place not the Police. uniformed
groups are here to build up strong individuals, leaders. if there
are people who choose to be ah bengs, we can't do anything about it
too.
And yes, I am from NPCC too. what you posted was merely an
outsider's view of NPCC. a very ignorant outsider in fact.
