Think you mean "Conscientious Objectors", who may also include
non-JW ppl.
Jehovah's Witnesses are ppl who practice a "deviant form of
Christianity" who refuse to perform any military service, salute
the flag, or swear oaths of allegiance to the State. In 1972 the
Government deregistered and banned the Singapore 'Congregation of
Jehovah's Witnesses' on the grounds that its existence is
prejudicial to public welfare and order. At the time, there were
approximately 200 Jehovah's Witnesses in Singapore; now there are
approximately 2,000.
Singapore does not recognise the right of "Conscientious Objectors"
not to serve NS, like in Germany. Objectors are court-martialled
and sentenced to 12 months in military detention. They are then
called up again and non-compliance results in further 24-month
sentences. Differ from Detainees, they wear white Tee and PT shorts
etc. and do General Duty work for their term instead of harsher
DB.
