When Kallang roared
THE 33-year-old National Stadium in Kallang will stage the National
Day Parade for the last time this year and close later this year.
It will be missed.
Palm of Thoughts writes:
"The National Stadium is snonymous with Singapore soccer in my
eyes... The memory of how the whole stadium would shake with the
Kallang Roar whenever Singapore scored still gives me goose pimples
all over."
3Dmaniac feels that the
stadium should be remembered as a national icon. He says: "I have
always thought of the National Stadium as a monument. It's been
with us for such a long time, ever since I was born."

Don't be deaf to pleas
SOME Singaporeans are wondering whether more can be done to help
the hearing-impaired.
Cliff thinks that schools
for the deaf can benefit from more support from the Government. He
writes: "Interpreters, like myself, are mostly volunteers,
untrained. Television programmes, including news broadcasts, are
not captioned.
Tecksoon writes: "Many
programmes aired in Singapore are American programmes, supplied
from American satellite feeds. The United States requires
captioning. Why aren't the captions rebroadcast?"
