what's the command for the marchpast?

Icemoon SG

But the red lions just do normal freefall right? Jump out from chopper we see until sian liao.

Why don't they do a HALO? Then wear oxygen mask and all the kits. They'll look even cooler.

palmerised SG

i agree with you on the red lions thing. every year is the same. 6 parachutists would jump out of a super puma and land somewhere on the stadium, and the 5 a-4s flying overhead in v formation, tailed by the f-16s.. haha it's boring already. what happened to all the armor and stuff like that.. would our armored mbts spoil the roads? please clarify..

anyway, it's not about looking cool or what, it's about practicality.. halo/haho insertions are usually employed if you want to be inserted unseen.. i presume you know the advantages/disadvantages of the 2 so i won't bother explaining.. anyway, for ndp purposes, i think they freefall from 1500m cause if they were to go any higher, the crowd won't see them.

well that's just my 2 cents worth..

Icemoon SG

I waiting for the apache to make their appearance during NDP leh .. haha .. then they will be escort for the Singapore flag.

The red lions can jump from HALO height. Then at around 1500m the spectators will be told to look up. So it is still the same.

If that is too hard, they can wear HALO kit and jump from the puma .. haha

First of all, they have done a HALO with oxygen mask before. It was done to the music from Mission Impossible.

Secondly, do you have any idea how much it costs (financially & in terms of logistics) to have a mobile column? That's why its only done once in a while. Besides, if you have it every year, some jokers will also complain that every year same thing.

But they should probably change the flypast a little. Maybe once in a while have five F-16s followed by three F5s rather than always A4 & F-16. Or maybe even have the crescent & 5 stars formation which they did one year.

My guess is the next mobile column will be when our Apache fleet is operational. Then we would have 2 new items i.e. Primus & Apache to display. And after that the next mobile column would probably be when our A4 replacements are operational.

baer SG

Try do that in Nat Stadium, anyway, Nat Stadium going to be torn down soon. Next 4 NDP will be with at padang or maybe decentralized (back to 1980's)

Your guess sounds good, just don't 'kena' arrowed, suay lah. Burn all your saturdays and sundays from March to August..

You Guys are getting lost, I think the original orignal post was asking about the long commmand to MARCH OFF the GOH/Parade which runs into some 20 words.

(sorry no help there)

anyway posts above have errors not to be made worst.

bergerak = take your mark (dressing) from
ke kanan/kiri = right/left
pusing = turn

"bergerak" is NOT 'MOVE", who is your drill instructor?

All drill instructors should be able to point out that in formation to turn the coningent to the front and rear of the formation it is:

"Akan Merhadap" or "Akan Ker-blakang"

whilst to turn contingent to left or right of formation it is

"Bergerak ker kiri" or "Bergerak ker kanan"

(apologies for Malay spelling)

Something all my sec 3 scouts learnt and have to master. (which uniform group so poor in basic drill duh?)

EXCO SG

As I like to tell people who complain about the flypast, lets just bear in mind that its an aerial salute… Not an airshow.

kopiosatu SG

akan merhadap ke hadapan = going to face forward

akan merhadap ke belakang = going to face backwards.

congratulations on your basic drills.

kopiosatu SG

muahahahaha~ they can't get into AA because they don't allow jeans mah Laughing

anyway, Apache's ain't coming back so soon... and mobile columns would probably destroy the track.

anyway its back to the padang already, so its time for the old show! Wink

kopiosatu SG

Liddat primus will be displayed first liao, see it next year! Mr. Green

A4s leh... hmmmm see if they decommision it soon or not. Then again, like what EXCO said.. its an aerial salute, not an airshow.

Wah last time i was in a uniform group was donkey's years ago liao. But when i was in it, we did advanced drill which i believe not many uniform groups did.

Tukak Huluan ... Jadikan Squad ... blah-blah-blah satu barisan pras
(spelling i forget liao .. too long ago)

In the SAF only CSMs and colour party learn one ...

kopiosatu SG

People say, just do... SAF mindset... why bother to master the whole command when most of the time its either :
1)Sai kang
2)Chiong up the hill down the slope
3)Doing tons of paperwork
4)Taking a break from all the above

In school, they very eng mah... that's why its called ECA.

The only extra you hear in the SAF isn't good Laughing
