Not if they are put side by size, you will see the HK53 is slightly larger a little than the MP5 . In fact it is very hard to spot the different, the easiler...

Hi buddies,as we all know,the usual MP-5 comes in either 9mm o 10mm calibre.But,read it from the net that Special Forces have a model of the MP-5 which is in the 5.56mm calibre.

Wondering is there any other weapons which are able to convert their original production calibre to a higher or lower calibre.Thanks for sharing.

Think you got it wrong, MP-5 don't have 5.56mm. But the manufacturer HK did come out with a rifle HK53 that is basically a MP5 but uses 5.56mm.

Because they look so a like, people alway mistaken that it is still MP5 but the manufacturer call it HK53

If am not wrong all H&K weaps of that era operated according to the rotating bolt roller delayed blow-back concept, probably the most prolific from this particular manufacturer - weaps included the G3, G3SG1, PSG-1, not sure about the H&K 23 series of LMGs and MG3s though

y not? Steyr AUG is a very good example. There are also 9mm versions of the M16.

The delayed roller action design for the MP5 basically make
it having good chance of 1st round hit and tight grouping
as a smg.

an aside...
had my hands on some Styer AUG recently, and I must say, it's a really versatile weapon.

even with the usual LED attachment + M203, it is around the same weight as our SAR21.

There is also a version with a 4x scope for sharpshooters which puts our M16 with the sharpshooting scope and SAR21 to shame. Rolling Eyes

Overall, well balanced weapon with fairly complicated assembly / disassembly procedures.

Most unit like MP5 for hostage situation, instead of M4 or others, it is a submachine gun which is smaller in size and can bring into action faster then longer rifles.

Next is the 9mm rounds, instead of 5.56 of a M4 , in hostage situation you don't want a over power round to over penetrate. Example go through a bad guy and hit the hostage behind, or bound off a wall and accidently hit a hostage.

Also the close bolt and delayed roller of the MP5 ensure the first round shot is totally acutal, with mininal gun internal movement which can affect the shoot. As the first round is the most important one, which usually does the kill.

I think it is unfair to say that the 4x scope put our M16 or SAR21 to shame. Our SAR21 is using 1.5x it can be change to a 4x scope. But 1.5x is used instead as that the best scope for a infantry rifle, which is more of normal engagement and let the infantry have a wider field of scope. A 4x scope will not be that suitable for closer engagement and it reduce the field of scope, which is a danger for ordinary soldiers.

But note what you are talking is about sharpshooter scope. Their mission is to engage enemy from a distant.

Actually the concept is wrong to think that the round will hit the hostage behind the tango because it will be the other way around, i.e. tango use hostage as body shield facing off against the shooters, so the hostage is in between, meaning the round will enter the hostage anyway, and using high power weapon the round will then hit the tango behind, so the internal body damage will be on the tango instead. So the hostage may or may not be terminated, at least incapacitated depending on the kind of exit wound

Then all the more there should be scope with scalable zoom rather than fixed, so as to cover the range from narrow to wide field of view

personally i feel that 9 millimeters have that man-stopping capability at close range. It is no much different from a pistol (most uses the same 9 mm too).
for fully auto and continous firing (squeeze and hold), we need a bigger and more stable submachine gun to peform the task.

infantry units should prefer (though not limited to) 7.62mm to 5.56mm rifle rounds. they travel further and is effective in terms of kills or damage at range.
