u can try, but likely u have to be alert.
managed to get back my bus pass and i/c once on a feeder bus cos i
happened to random check and cannot find it. it's at the
interchange ready for colllection. 
i also almost lost a phone, but the weight on my pockets weren't
right when i got up and instinctly checked the seats again.
so now quite standard, will check my seats for lost items.
