meaning those earn less den 1.6k will have more rest days and leave??

according to the section 36, 42, 43 and 44 of the employment act it does not state whether those worker who earn less than 1.6 k got more rest day or leave, it just says that the amount of leave plus rest day is determined by whether the worker work shift or not, does that help u?

Employment Act stipulates that workers who earn less than $1600 have to fulfil 44 hours work pattern per week, any additional hours worked is entitled to overtime claims… It also stipulates that workers should not work more than certain amount of days continuously without a rest day in between… Employment Act also states that should workers be needed to work overtime, the total hours worked per week should not exceed 72 hours excluding break time…

Employment Act prescribes the minimum requirements, but it's still up to your agreement signed with the company... If you sign blindly without reading through the terms and conditions of your Letter of Appoinment, then you have to follow the terms and conditions you've "agreed"... Sad

The employment act only serves as a guide & a guidline that employers cannot go below this requirement but does not necessarily mean they MUST give you more.

ok, lets say i earn less than 1600 and i have to work mon – fri from 8.50 to 5.30. sat 8.30 – 12.30, and i am only entitled to 7 days leave per year . is the company ill treating me?

Nope, the company isn't ill-treating you cos you've already signed the Letter of Appointment or Agreement stating that you've understood and accepted the terms and conditions laid down in the contract...
