Joshua1975 SG I heard from my friend that one of his relative was having dinner in a coffee shop and the black out hit there oso, he was was panic that he start to take off forgetting his bag and some other ppl in the coffee oso start to run. Within a few second he realise he left his bag behind and went back for it but it was no where to be found Handphone $500+ gone, key in bag lost, call locksmith $100+, Lock inself 100+, door HDB prize unknown, need to break. He asking can claim not???
AdAptAliS SG I think it's just a matter of lack of knowledge of emergencies. The old lady probably didn't know exactly what to do during the black out and decided to call police for help. But students, citizens like me are adequately educated to know how to handle blackouts and therefore we wouldn't panic like her. The line was full because everyone who didn't know what to do dialled in. If proper instructions and guidelines were given out as precautions, people might respond to it better. I don't mean read the guidebook after the blackout started. Maybe more of those mock emergencies exercises would benefit.
Fairyland SG Don't know about the rest......but in a blackout I tend to spread my hands out and squeeze! I apologise, forget to add the most important part.........the running away after! Any data on number of molest cases reported last night?
storywolf SG Still find it a lousy excuse for have backout and take so long to restore. Anyway national day coming, maybe Indonesia should help so we can have a repeat of the backout at the moment the prime minister is inspecting the troop before anyone in the power company get wake up their funny ideal !!! The Singapore will forever be prepare !!!
Laplace SG http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/93132/1/.html Hmm, BG George Yeo is not a happy man. Apparantly the valve the malfunctioned last night was the same one that went kaput two years ago. No why didn't the director of the Energy Market authority say so during last night's press conference? Dunno? Clueless? Noe but act blur? Helping power companies to cover-up? Endless possibilities...
Temujin SG Imagine if there's a blackout during National Day. I don't know what to say. All the contigency plans and planning comes to nothing.
arburthen? SG Sometimes I think the press talk too much, I'm not against free press but they shud just tone it down bcus we're not the only ones looking at the news, the terrorist too are looking at it and it might suddenly give them some new idea of what to do with their free time. I particularly didn't like one of the recent stories published recently abt how to make 'dirty' bombs using commercially available equipment like components from smoke detectors, I think that was too much.
Paladin SG However I guess terrorits don't learn making bombs from just reading off articles on newspaper. The methods and "ingredients" are available on the internet right? But it might get ugly if some kids wanna try it out... I myself got a faulty smoke detector in my house.. hmmm..
Temujin SG A valuable lesson learned. If there's one more major blackout this year, what will the government do ?
arburthen? SG I think it's time we build a very small nuclear reactor which uses caramel a very low enrichment fuel instead of uranium. to generate enough electricity power to all our homes. Of course it will be open to IAEA for any inspection
