actually sometimes cannot play because the DVD player does not support some format. For an Akira
which is cheap and basic, the usual format supported would be
DVD Video and DVD+R/RW.
If your DVD is a different format, say
DVD-R/RW or DVD-VR,
then it cannot be played. OR it could be that your player is not
configured to play the region code
