u referring to the super ayc equipped on the GSR i presume? yeah, that thing is amazing. gives evo the ability to corner flat out at mad speeds.

but not so for the GT or RS spec evos. they have mechanical lsds in place. these are those that truely tests the driver's skills.

well...if you modify the normal lancer's bonnet, change its front and rear headlamps, front rear bumpers and air dams, change the boot cover, change the brakes - to brembo disc brakes, change the spoiler... you got yourself a EVO... not to mention the seats inside too...

if you want the whole deal, change the 1.6 GLX engine to the EVO's 2.0 Turbocharged one and change the gear box...

Heard from reviews that the EVO and LANCER share the same body... even interior is similar... some critics say Mitsubishi focused too much in developing the engine and never look into the interior of EVO, but no one's complaining..coz the interior looks cool..hehe

The chassis itself is also strengthened. You do realize that without reinforcing the chassis, there would be too much flex when you are pushing that much power on a stock Lancer chassis.

Ditto when moving from TS to WRX/STI.

Also, the whole drivetrain would have to change. The 4WD, the PCD/offset to allow for better handling.

In other words... it may look like an Evo, but it can't perform as well as one... Hehe... The chassis would probably break under the added stress if you change the engine and up the horsepower... Then again, I've never seen a Lancer get bent in half, should be interesting to see... Mr. Green

Have you ever driven a GSR before? Seems like this is a line spouted by people who have not driven one before.

True, the AYC/ACD combination does give you more levels of grip allowing you to take corners more aggressively. But eventually you will still reach the limit. You can't beat physics.

It's like how a person can corner faster/better with better suspension setups or tyres, etc, or like with the new Spec Cs and JDM STIs, DCCD (which is also a computer controlled differential). But eventually, you will still run out of grip.

When that happens, it will take a far more skilled driver to control the car at its limits.

As far as I know, most racing teams dont use AYC because the AYC isnt rated to handle the higher torque figures their modified engines put out.

The evo is wider than the lancer. If you get a chance, compare the front and rear fenders of both cars to notice the subtle difference. The bulge for the rear fender actually begins in the middle of the rear doors, which makes a "TS to WRX" conversion very much more difficult. As a result, the undercarriage front and rear anti-sway bars taken from an evo will not fit a lancer.

Edited: Oh forgot to mention, looking at the rear of these cars, one will notice that for the evo, the 2 rear backlights are distinct and separate - unlike the lancer, where the inner rear light "eats" into the outer light. Hence a face-lift is still quite obvious for the experienced/trained eyes

nobody is saying u can defy the law of physics. if u can read as well as u can make assumptions, u'd realize i was commending the super ayc's ability to correct the driver's incompetency.

dun get me wrong, i've witnessed my fair share of evo's spinning out/ going off track after they overshot the limits of the car's capability, but this by no means belittles the aid they had received from the car's traction enhancement devices.

By the same token, do you remove anti roll bars, or switch to crappola tyres because they are "traction enhancement devices"? Or DCCD on the STI?

And like I mentioned before, it takes a far more skilled driver who can control the car at the higher cornering speeds at that limit of stability.
