SH i only played SH2 which is nice....i've also got hunterkiller 688(i) and fleet command...both by janes...hmm....i think that's it....unless you're into old games about sail ships ehhee

For the moment the best so far is Sub Command. Learning curve is steep and I still haven't figured out how to read the Akula's passive sonar screen. But sonar modelling is just fantastic.

In my mind, the BEST naval combat computer game I've played has to be.......*drumroll*......Sierra/Dynamix "Aces of The Deep". This is a true classic.

Honorable mention goes to Harpoon (first one) and Microprose's "Red Storm Rising" (first "realistic" sub game I played)

Aces of the Deep(1995) graphics sucks leh,but overrall gameplay is not bad.

How about Sierra's Fast Attack(1996)? released about the same time as AoD but graphics much better.

The graphics was crude by today's standard but it was more than enough for pure immersion, gameplay-wise I'd have to say it's not been surpassed. I remember a friend of mine who was watching me play and he felt a bit sick when we got to the outside view with the rolling waves.

Also, does anyone remember Microprose's Fleet Defender? F-14 Tomcat flight sim and it was pretty cool, especially the radar modelling.

Sub Command is from the same team (Sonalysts) of developers, plus, you get to drive around the Akula and Seawolf classes. If you liked Jane's 688, then I highly recommend Sub Command. If i remember correctly, they even model a few Malaysian ships in-game and you can create your own littoral missions in SG + Straits of Malacca waters (Maps are lo-fi though).

Doing your own TMA and working at a successful shot is definitely one of the most satisfying experiences in the game.

Was hooked when I first played the original Silent Hunter. Among my collection: Janes 688(I), Sub Command, Janes Fleet Command, Silent Hunter 2, Warships.

Personally find the controls of Subcommand a bit more confusing than 688(I) and Fleet Command too slow.

lol fleet command theres an option to fast launch all aircraft..

sub command i still see in stores in sim lim square..seriously is a damn good game, and as ferret69 said, doing your own TMA and achieving a hit on the target (sunk or not) is extremely satisfying Mr. Green

gah. but they don't sell fleet command anymore, even on classix. i lost my copy Crying or Very sad

Dangerous Waters is a new sim from Sonalysts (Sub Command, Jane's 688, Fleet Command). It allows control of subs AND surface ships.

It certainly looks and sounds interesting.
