Do employers check educational background??

mhcampboy SG

As above, when a company employs a person, do they actually checked the education background and working backgorund of a person?

For example , Sally has a Degree in XXXX from states and working with company YYYY for 4 years.

Would the future employers checked the university she got her degree from and also the company she worked before with??

Just curious. And also, is it possible to enter overseas Uni with just O levels cert?

Cos my uncle wanna send my nephew overseas after his O's and said that he can get him into a degree program. Is it possible?

BrUtUs SG

unless he damn gd else its still better to try send applications first… ask him go take college first la…

mhcampboy SG

yar. i did mention to get a college diploma first. but my uncle seems determined that his son can enter Uni after O's. Not about results. But the fact that he knows it can happen. As in after O's into Uni. Rolling Eyes

It’s not possible to get into university straight away after Os, not even overseas. However, some overseas universities offer bridging programs. These bridging programs teach him whatever foundations he may need in university. He will only spend a year or two and after that he can continue his studies in a university.

mhcampboy SG

So in other words... there is a way to enter str8away after O's la?

dork3d SG

In the States, some of the colleges there require students with Os qualifications to undergo a year of high school internship first before going in for a full 4-year degree program...

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Not really straight away... but can enter uni, spend lesser time studying only...

I think some HR managers will screen ur education background. they will call up the university for authentication purposes.

TehJarVu SG

no need to call what, they will ask you for a copy of your cert and also ask you to bring the original to check against it.

Texcoco II SG

Wat if fake one they know?

browniebaobao SG

they will check lor.. certs can be fake mah.

my ite teacher was once a hr practitioner, he came across a cert that's fake.

In sg, one can go take private A and then Masters straight away. It will be faster lor.

de_middle SG

Then its a BOGUS university, no one admits into undergraduate programme with O levels. But there is this tie up with UOL under stansfield & i think its a 4 year programme.

JLennon SG

Some employers may go to the extent of verifying that info with the college and previous employer. Its in their interest afterall to ensure that the info given is accurate.

It is possible to enter US universities after O levels provided you have also satisfied some of the entry requirements (such as achieving suitable scores in SAT and TOEFL). I don't think you can rely purely on an O level cert to satisfy their entry requirements.

vincentchean SG

can go straight to university
but not straight to degree.

alot uni out there offer diploma
so they do diploma first then they pursue degree.
very common. alot ppl go aust is like this.

Ah Cek SG

newmanmback SG

berll SG

it is possible. like what mayi said, bridging courses might be needed for some, but there are others which accept students with just o'level certs. depending on the course, students with just o'level certs need a min. of 3yrs.

call up those private institution which offer degree programs for more info, of course, call those more established one, not those with names like football clubs. Very Happy
