Swiss Army Knife Recommendation

Saw this Victorinox Brand Swiss Army Knife on sale at Home Fix, but not sure if this is the Original Maker of Swiss Knife.

Any reviews from people who own this?

Go download the picture of the original Victorinox logo. Chances are, fake knives do not have the exact picture. The logo will not be painted on the knife but rather, inset via metal or something else so you can fell it. Also, original victorinox has the officer swisse word at the base of the main blade.

There is also wenger but I do not own one and thus cannot tell you what to look for.

Depends on your needs and usage. The wenger multipurpose knife has a better scissors spring that is durable and does not jam. The victorinox one tends to jam and the scissors joint gets loose easily.

Furthermore, the victorinox has a very durable cutting edge that can take many years or careless abuse and still not need sharpening.

A cheap multipurpose knife tends to jam and you have to fight with it to open the utilities after sometime even though the joints are well oiled. The knife is also dull upon purchase and loses its anti rust coating upon sharpening.

As a gift, the victorinox is the most recognisable and well received knife as compared to its close rival wenger and if you give a cheap brandless one, dun expect any calls of thanks from the receipient.

My friend gave me a similar one for my birthday a few years ago. I’ve found it the most useful birthday present I’ve ever received.

I’ve not bought it but just thinking if it’s for myself, mainly using it for Uniform Group Camps and hiking only, which type suitable for me? The one with the above contents suitable for me? I don’t want to get a overkill.

Your above list seems rather complete and simple. You can visit their official website to see the various models. There are quite a few camping models although most of them seem to be an overkill.

Anyone here got one which he/she can recommend? The one at their websites are full catalogues, but SG distributors don't have all models.

Well forget about spending money on a swiss army knife, too little functions and blade too small .

Face it, if you getting if for fun, then swiss knife will do.

But if you really in shit spot and emergency, you will wish for something else. Get the leatherman copies type from china. Which is bigger got more better tools and super cheap and more practical.

look around china town or general tools shop, they have the china copies selling cheap.

Leatherman tools are wonderful for urban use, but for camping, it tends to be less relevant than the swiss.

Interesting trivia, during and after WW2, the traditional officer swiss had a secondary blade and a cockscrew.
