SumOne SG Honestly, I feel for prosumer cameras, whether it's leica or not isn't so important. For prosumer I'd prefer it for Horizontal zoom. Which is what the Sony T series has but not the Canon Ixus series.
SumOne SG My advice, find someone with a compact type of camera, ask them what they like about their camera. Ask them about the specs of that camera and what those specs do for their camera. Don't ask someone who is a die hard SLR fan (professional camera) because they tend to be quite biased.
SumOne SG I agree man, Kyocera is steady. Just that marketing is poor. Decent performance for its price.
mikevalentine SG Thanks all for your help so far. Anyways, is it true that for if I purchase from Sony, then I will have to buy memory card from Sony too? And that it will be expensive? And how much zoom do I need? I mean, how much is sufficient?
the Bear SG depends actually, ALL Sony products will use their memory sticks... but some of their higher end cameras use Compact Flash also..
SumOne SG Hmm... Don't threadstarter would want A430 because the preference seems to be for non-AA batt cameras (i.e;Li Batt)
Manager433 SG AA seems to be a better choice. If lets say the batteries go dead, u still can use another new AA size batteries to operate ur camera.
SumOne SG Agree with Manager433, Sony memory stick is expensive, so you gotta make sure they give you a decent amount of memory for free. Otherwise you might as well buy another brand that is already cheaper and gives you more than enough memory card memory. The common zoom in the market now is 3times optical zoom and above. Digital zoom should be at least 4times. 3times is enough for 3 to 4 meters. Good enough for group shots and personal potraits. Optical zoom is more impt than digital zoom.
SumOne SG There's advantage in both. Li Batt have longer life in gen and allows response time of camera to be faster. Also, it's easier for camera to be slim if it's using Li batt, which I think is what the threadstarter wants. Using AA batt also makes the camera heavier.
SumOne SG Maybe becase everyone assume their own budget is the person's budget. Ha ha. But I kind of sense that threadstarter is going for sony T series, which pretty much means budget is quite high for prosumer cameras.
SumOne SG eh...... that one not really a "little" more. ha ha ha. You must see if threadstarter got the cash already.
