A Singaporean is trying to go on an expedition from Pole to Pole
later this year.
But first, Siddharth Rajan has gone on a unicycle to bolster his
chances.
A trip from Pasir Ris to the Boon Lay MRT stations on a unicycle is
a total distance of 27 stations, and almost 40 kilometres.
Siddharth, 22, has gone on this route and broken his own nine-hour
record achieved last year.
Undeterred by the rain and the wet roads, he crossed the finish
line in under four hours.
The expedition from the South Pole to the North Pole is undertaken
by the Pole to Pole Leadership Institute.
24 people will be chosen to embark on the expedition in November
this year and it will be the first-ever human-powered
journey.
Participants will ski, cycle, sail and walk the whole distance from
the South Pole to the North Pole.
Along the way, expedition members will also undertake various
humanitarian and environmental projects.
Siddharth said: "Dare to dream. It was only a couple of years ago
that I really decided to go for adventure as my profession. It's
just been two years and I'm already prepared for an expedition and
I could go to the Poles in November. If you dream and try hard
enough, you could succeed."
The Pole to Pole Leadership Institute is an international
organization that inspires, empowers, and trains youth to take
initiative and become leaders addressing the critical issues of our
time.
