there are cases where no one pass the selection test..

I can't say I remember that particular insignia, but it is different from the badge that I've seen worn the uniform.

Agreed re: Ranger. It's not unknown for SOF men to fail Ranger - the difference seems to lie mainly in the duration of the tekaning. Over on the battalion side, we used to speculate on the differences between Hell Week and the two 30-day stretches in the Ranger course. Then again, back in my day, the pass rate for Ranger used to be about 30% - most of our instructors came back to the company sans tab and hair. Some of my former mates are now Ranger cadres, and while they're still friendly enough over beers, I wouldn't recommend meeting them in a dark alley.

As for SOF training, stick around Changi Beach long enough and you could spot them doing their open-water swims.

Nathan - when you say that you wouldn't want to meet somebody in a dark alley, you mean that the person is scary. Smile

There's one particular guy from my platoon who's now a Ranger cadre and also an instructor in PTW. Back when we were serving together, he was a really nice guy, kind of goofy, really. I actually caught up with him a few weeks ago, after not having seen him for about 11 years, and he's still the same. Later, my friend's cousin from to 2001 batch said that this guy was a real saidst and I said, "What? He's the nicest guy on the planet!", but I later checked up with the other guys from my company, and they told me that when the drowning incident happened, everybody breathed a sigh of relief that this guy was out of town at the time - he would have been the first to be blamed. Shocked

Nah, I think it's just the role that he's expected to play - after all, Ranger cadres are supposed to be a bunch of mean hombres and amongst themselves it can be hierarchical. We all do the same thing in our own way - sure as hell nobody at work ever wanted to see me express displeasure.

that is the sof logo/insignia. the sof badge on the uniform is a different one.

The thing is, though, while I've met numerous SOF troopers who've failed the Ranger course, I've never met a Ranger who failed SOF training / selection.

I think they knew it's hell week and many ppl "keng" try to get ppl sign up for dis and dat.

Heard from my previous infantry PC a downgraded ex-SOF officer, selection v.tough, training is near insane.

during ur time, when yr go field got rain or not.
during my bmt n bct, almost every out field rain. field-camp rain the whole week.. Confused bct ex. all-out also rain whole week . got wet, then dry, then wet again....

so, we're also know, at that time, the water company.
