Air-Conditioning Unit Issues

How much will it cost usually? Or is it depending on the retailer and length of wiring and stuffs?

My Air-Con is approximately 8 years old, a FujiAIR Single Unit.

Since last year, it started dripping and called in servicing few time. Once, the condenser tripped the whole house circuit due to a isulation issue. And from yesterday night till now, it had suddenly stopped 3 times and will stop operation just 5s after it's switched on. It's unexpected timing.

I'm thinking if the Air-Con is of age already and it's time for replacement? I'm calling the technician to do a check this Sunday.

If I'm changing the unit, any suggestion for one costing $800 and below? Looking for Single Unit only.

You can get a Fujitsu for about $550 from Gain City or LG at $500 - $600 from Coolserve...

$800 can get a better brand like Daikin.

i'm working in this era, i know how good is Daikin's Compressor!

Me was using Daikin Inverter System 3 but don't find it good... It started to give me problems after eight months, like high amp and burnt condenser unit of the fancoil, changed my compresser's inverter twice, topped up the refrigerant thrice in a year due to leaking cooling coils, had one of my wallmount unit changed due to faulty PCB... After that me gave up and traded-in for a Mitsubishi StarMex system 3...

your current a/c? i will say 80%> your compressor mati.
after cool down, your compressor will run..but got heat up very fast and trip.

For replacement of compressor is around $3-400(labour cost include)
might as well go for a new one.

Cos your current unit already eight years old, can try asking for trade-in, but from what me learnt from my contractor, they normally won't take in a unit more than five years... And the trade-in value for a five-yeared unit is already super low at $50 depending on brands...

Why compressor ? My Aircon that time when dripping, I realise the tube is like frozen.

$50 trade in is still higher than scrapping the unit at $0.10 / KG

Look like choked drainage outlet and thermostat on the PCB gone case on your wallmount...

Any possiblilties of just changing the Wall Mount and not Compressor ? Or is it better to change everything? Cause if changing, I want to shift the Wall-Mount position.

A quick check, is a System 2 cheaper to maintain and how much does it cost with installation?

i dont think is FCU pcboard problem. basically, the FCU have independent power supply.

If it's not FCU, how to justify the frequent shut-down since last night?

btw changing the FCU(fan coil unit) or changing compressor unit.

PRICE about the same.
compressor about 3-400
FCU about 300

few reason.

1)compressor got high amp so fast and cos trip
2)CU wiring corrupt and short circuit. (low possible)
3)CU pcboard problem.(low possible also)

btw dont waste that money to call technician , save the money for new unit better. now air-con so cheap.

My Aunt suggested calling technician cause she believe it's a technical issue which can be fixed. I'm looking at a $600 unit. Can get any good ones?

Don’t get conned by the TV advertisments and letterbox leaflets stating anything spoilt unit also can repair and at a reasonable rate… So far me know these companies don’t have ‘reasonable’ rates offered… And by far, they might use second-handed parts…
