I bought a new Nissan Latio Sport and for the last one month failed to cross 400km on a full tank. Went back to see TC for a review and they told me to ensure petrol oozing out and visble at edge of openere. I did that and reverted back to TC that Nissan Lattio can only clock 1 litre = 10km and nothing more!!! Crying or Very sad

They have yet to get back to me on my complain. I trusted the brand and bo Exclamation ught it without even test-driving it or seeing it at showroom (booked at last year's Car Show @ Suntec before the car even arrived).

Anyone out there can pls advise what TC should do? This is obviously a very big and scary problem - imagine what it means to the Nissan brand - inconsistent quality control from Japan? Mad

this only means you are a geezer who didn't go his homework before buying.

the nissan engine adpoted technolgies from renault. in a sense, the latio is almost a cross-breed of japanese and continental car. so you shouldn't be surprised in this fuel comsumption.

What rubbish! TC must be some kind of incompetent, fly-by-night, ah beng workshop. Letting petrol ooze out will damage your paint work. Go back to their authorized dealer Tan Chong Motor to check up.

The problem is high petrol consumption, which has nothing to do with how much to fill up.

I just received a call from TC. The rep said her boss told her since my 1 litre goes for Mad around 10km, it's 'normal' to register 10-14km for Latio! I am supoosed to just 'shut-up' and 'live with it'! Sad

Nissans have always had relatively higher FC as compared to the rest of the jap brands.. and especially so when compared to toyota.. whose vvti tech enables it to register better FC..

if FC is ur oni complaint.. u might wanna try to be even more light footed than ur oredi now... and mabe install some after market shiets that may help the car use less petrol..

so much heavier than your regular civic or altis...

it is normal for such a heavy car to register 10km/l.

it is also too early to talk about FC when the car is still running in.

normally the FC is higher during running in.

dont talk with only 1 cent...

No personal experience but so far heard from friends and in forums, most reported that the Latio can easily fetch 13km/l...

Maybe your car is still running in...

Anyway sometime comparing FC with other owner may not be very accurate. Some travel mostly on expressway, some mainly in city, some more heavy footed, some goes easy with the acelerator...

So far of all the car that I have owned or driven, my FC is always not as good as those reported by forumer driving the same car. Worst of all, I'm not heavy footed... ... so... ... LL

altis around 1140kg also lah, so is ford focus civic and a lot of other cars. heavier 1.6l car will be mazda3(1.3 tonnes), cerato(same), etc. Light ones will be city(_{1050kg),
vios(940-970kg), getz(}1000kg), etc.

You can't just blame TC for the poor FC for your new car. The sales agent did highlight the latio average about 10-13km/l and it's very normal for a 1.6l car.

This also teach people some lesson, better do so research b4 commit. Anyway you bought a latio sport, and you expect a FC of a Honda Jazz?????? Like someone bought a EVO and expect a FC of a lancer. !!!!111111

In the recent year, nissian is famous for outer look and cabin design, as for engine FC, well can say it sucks !!! take a look at sunny, cefiro .... etc, all totally famous here for super bad FC. So don't expect Latio to FC to be good.

If you want good FC go for toyota or honda.

Anyway your FC should be getting better, think you have not run in yet, but don't expect much.

Initially, I heard news that the Latio's new engine is to solve the problem of high fc of many sunnys. Seems like it is not the case, as mentioned by many owners and se as well. Seem like it will probably not go near vios range mainly due to its high kerb weight. Sad

Anyway, you might like to check with nissan club to see if they have any solution. High probably that people are having same problem with you.

New cars are like that. Your FC will get better as times goes on (probably after 10k mileage from my experience). Just like your slippers, never feels good wear it for first few times.
Like the others said, nissan engine never has good FC but one thing about their engine is that its relatively powerful and feels more torquey when it comes to manual engine, thumbs up for this. Many things can't be explained when it comes to car, you have to feel and observe for yourself and know what you want in a car. Good FC never match with speed and precision. Surprised

So far Nissan Club members with Latio, Latio Sports, regardless of CVT or 4AT are getting 12.5 and up... Best guy getting 15++ since day one...

The CVT is not fast, It is smooth.. IF you try to floor all the way to get it to pick up faster, you are in the wrong car... and that could be the reason WHY you getting that type of mileage.

Think if that is only the first tank ... it is very unfair to judge that FC is very poor and etc...

Everyone knows that during the run-in phase .. FC is generally very poor. Only after the first tank and subsequent service .. the FC will be getting better until it stablise.

I am driving a Latio Sport and currently on Second tank.

First tank, around left 1/4 hit only 380KM

Second tank, now at almost same level hitting around 410KM...

this is before first service.

Nissan cars used to have FC problem like their Sunny but this joined developed engine suppose to solve the FC problem yet giving the similar performance of a 1.6L.

Check out the specs and u could see it is close to some 1.6L specs.

The niggy complain generally abt this car is the inital pickup ... the pickup is good when u hit 2K rpm and above else it is pickup is crawling instead.

As for poor FC for Cefiro.. I think u cant realli complain about it as it is a 2.4L car body with a 2.0L engine. It is the same for 2.0L camry, the 1.6L old Corona, the old Sonata and etc ...

All car body is heavier but all seriously underpowered. But for driving a 2.0L car .. u cant expect to have a FC of a 1.6L car.

Same goes for 1.5L car .. u cant compare its FC to a 1.4L or 1.3L car (Honda Fit)

Just my two cent worth ... I have been active in Nissanclub too .. so far majority are hitting 14km/l ... it is also very much depend on your driving behaviour and daily distance and road condition

FC got alot of factors to affecting it de la. but 10km/l is not that bad already ma. i think its rather normal.
