Highlights at Asian Aerospace 2004
Leading the show is the special technology feature of Unmanned
Aerial Vehicles (UAV), with the spotlight on European Aeronautics
Defence Space Company's (EADS) and Israel Aircraft Industries
(IAI)-Malat UAV System, Eagle taking to the skies in the
much-anticipated UAV flying demonstration. This will be the first
time that a UAV is staging a flying demonstration at an
international air show.
Visitors will also be able to get up close and personal to the
latest UAV mock-ups which are in Asia for the first time. Some of
these include Northrop Grumman's Global Hawk and Fire Scout, and
Singapore Technologies Dynamics' Fantail.
At the first ever UAV Pavilion led by the Association for Unmanned
Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), international manufacturers
such as Northrop Grumman, Elbit, Israel Aircraft Industries and
Bell Helicopter will be unveiling an array of fascinating unmanned
aviation technologies. AUVSI is the world's largest non-profit
organisation devoted exclusively to advancing the unmanned systems
community.
Of great interest to the civil aviation industry will be the
illustrious panel of speakers confirmed for the inaugural
International Air Transport Association (IATA)/Asian Aerospace
Aviation Summit. Leading the summit is Singapore's Senior Minister,
Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who will be the Guest-of-Honour and Distinguished
Speaker.
Returning to the show to much anticipation will be the aerobatics
flying display. The flamboyant Suryakiran, a world-class full-time
formation aerobatics team from the Indian Air Force, will be making
its first international debut at a world-class air show. One of the
world's three nine-aircraft aerobatics teams, the Surykiran,
meaning "Ray of Light", will feature some of its top fighter pilots
flaunting the capabilities of the Kiran MK II aircraft. In
addition, the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, also from the Indian
Air Force, will be making its first international appearance
performing with its fleet of Dhruv Advanced Light
Helicopters.
