GBuy by Google

Lim Beh Ka Li Kong SG

Got a shock when I was reading today's Digital Life (p35)...

Seems like Google is testing a system that will compete with PayPal , and analyst has dubbed the potential new service as... 'GBuy'...

Dun ask me why, but the name doesn't feel quite right...

Omg, Google is dominating the cyber space. From normal search engine to a 2Gb mailbox(now increase like hell), then to search bar/web accelerator, pay for click ads and now?!?! Even snatching business with Ebay... Indeed a huge conspircy from the beginning.

At year 1999 Google only has 6 super computer servers, even though it is not that powerful enough but their filter has won many recognition from others.

Recently like 2002/2003, they even has their own building.. Wad a search engine! Twisted Evil

Haha... Imagine this:-

Customer: I want to buy this pair of limited edition sneakers. Courier over, k?

Internet Seller: Can. Can. But must pay first.

Customer: No problem. You accept payment by GBuy hor...

Internet Seller: ....

Let's just hope that Google won't be using this name when they do launch the service... Mr. Green

Although it will sound weird to us, I think it will be free and great publicity for them since we'll be joking about it and indirectly advertising it for them.

photo_seeker SG

I think it will sound really weird to tell friends the payment mode.

kokwhye SG

Yup.. Mr Brown mentioned it in his blog sometime early this year. I remember the joke is that the next thing Google would want to do is to do an auction site like Ebay, and called it Gbay... thus you can use your Gbuy to pay for something you bid with your Gbay
