I remembered vividly that last time, quite a long time ago, when all london cabs are white (without all the paintings and advertisements on them), I saw one that is dark brown on colour without the taxi sign on it. Too bad, i din catch the number plate to see if it is private car or otherwise...

Yes, I think they are for sale as private cars. But I don't think they're quite cheap. also, if they're running on Diesel, then you should know that the road tax for diesel private cars in singapore is 700% the normal one , I think.

I'm not sure, but if you go to Raffles hotel, you'll see those dark brown/maroon color london cabs, think it belongs to the hotel.
