Will 974 call at the pair of "bus stops" at Boon Lay Way outside Boon Lay MRT, currently functioning as drop-off points and served by NR5 & CW6?

Kind of surprised 258 didn't have a stop there when it was amended...

For a start it will be SD and DD, but it will only be full DD when Tengah New Town is fully ready. This means that there will be new BTOs in Tengah. MINDEF had been doing ongoing rationalisation of training areas. This means it will be consolidated to Pulau Tekong (with the polder area) or Lim Chu Kang.

But 974 doesn't go to Tengah, it bypasses it via KJE.

I got feeling service 67 will be shortened/expunged when service 974 is introduce as it is both their routes are duplicating each other from CCK MRT - Bt Panjang MRT.

Not possible coz 67 is the only service connecting CCK and Upper Bukit Timah. 67 currently has good 70-90 pax loading from CCK Way to CCK MRT. 974 will eat into its loading but with the new flats occupancy increasing, it should balance out. Unlike other towns, the LRT and bus stops are at different distances, giving 67/188 a feeder role within CCK.

Would have been too long and then unreliable.

Took 12e from Tampines to NBR just now... was literally the only pax onboard throughout the journey and buses in the opposite direction had only ~10 pax on board. BC would remind everyone that just boarded that its express service and not the regular 12 and all immediately alighted...

Is there by any chance that 974's revelation was an accident since everyone knows the route even before official press release and it is already being displayed on bus apps and JK Bus int?

Its another service 71. But the thing is, it will be launched after Chinese New Year :(_ Service 71 also likes to run parallel from Choa Chu Kang to Bukit Panjang, but what happens at the end - Bukit Panjang, maybe it will be Upper Bukit Timah Road, Dairy Farm Road, BKE, KJE, Woodlands Road and Choa Chu Kang Road. Shortening of service 67 may still be possible, but could not find the details.

They should have let 974 ply Pioneer Road North, instead of Jalan Bahar.

Pioneer Road North and Jalan Bahar are the 2 trunk roads that connect Jurong West (Pioneer, Gek Poh and Boon Lay) to the express way.

Considering Jalan Bahar already has 172 to Choa Chu Kang, the new bus to Choa Chu Kang (974) should have plied Pioneer Road North instead, to minimize duplication and optimize resources.

Furthermore, if the objective is to connect Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang residents to Joo Koon, plying Pioneer Road North (straightaway) would be faster than to meander through Boon Lay Way.

172 and 974 cater to different parts within CCK town. 974 needs to be routed via Jalan Bahar otherwise will not connect to Boon Lay MRT - quite important to have this express link to CCK MRT as 172 takes quite some time.

it is puzzling that 974 does not utilize the BPITH. there are at least 3 empty berths. 2 for LRT Shuttle A & B and one empty. do they have other plan or can't squeeze any buses inside the small interchange? Anyone know?

Not to mention the horrid maintenance on their buses

Also, the super loose runtimes which causes buses to take much longer to complete their journey compared to before BCM

I thought the runtimes come from LTA and not TT?
