Govt. wants more ppl? Plus, u sure have the big group of ppl assuming that MRT is gonna be full and bus is gonna be empty. Or buses aren't gonna be crowded. Or eating/drinking is rather allowed in buses~

Current mrt line is already very fast for the yew tee resident to town. 40 mins via ns line to orchard.

Versus 20 mins for Bukit Panjang residents to get to town on DTL2. A new bus service will help save at least 10 mins of traveling time

bukit panjang residents all stay near the DTL station ah? save 10 mins? no need wait for bus? by the time you board the bus and reach bukit panjang station will be at least 20-30 mins....

further, from one of the LTA press release --

"The Downtown Line 2 will offer commuters significant time savings. For example, the current one-hour journey from Bukit Panjang to the city centre will be reduced by a third - to approximately 40 minutes. "

When DTL opens, service 23's full DD will even have to extend all the way to Dover Bus Interchange, that is near to Singapore Polytechnic (2017) and will merge with 191 (2 buses). This will allow a cap and a new direct link between Portsdown Rd and MCE, that is provided if there is no downgrading of fleets. Service 65 is no longer full fleet DD anymore becos DTL3 opening in 2017.

23 no need to go Dover,Can always terminate at Rochor Terminal.I am sure there is catchment from pax alighting from CW link and SJE buses.Exit follow 170 to Rochor Canal then resume its original routes..I did a survey that SBST has 6 lots and everytime see 4-5 buses park at one time leaving 1-2 lots vacant.23 can have a short rest there.

Marina centre is crowded already bro,Its just a temporary terminal until all the svc extend to Marina South in future..

Another possibility that 66 may cut short to loop at Serangoon from J East and 67 might see either Tampines or CCK looping at Serangoon too.

Since you was comparing from Yew Tee MRT to town I compared from Bukit Panjang MRT to town also lor. Yew Tee residents also don't stay near MRT what.

Anyway you get my point. I remember five years ago during GE the Yew Tee MP said he'll address the transport woes of the residents. So just waiting for it

I think 74, 166 and 852 will remain.

74 & 852's target passengers are different. Been boarding this two buses and observe, there is demand along the stretch.

166: Why even involve this service?.

972 will not extend. If has to, 700 will extend to CCK via Keat Hong to provide Keat Hong residents direct access to Orchard road.

the DTL will be running on end of the year. and it operated by SBST. So i think some services might cut back or removed if it is by sbst. But SMRT bus service i think 190 , 67 and those parallel to the line might have changes but it will be silly to remove 190 700 and 960 as even the people taking might reduce but the services is still useful in helping the MRT to reduce crowding problem

157 I doub't so. If 157 were to turn to PIE and exit via Adam/Lornie Rd, it cause huge delay as traffic exiting PIE towards Lornie Rd is very very very bad especially during peak hours. Don't touch 157.

66 may or may not have route change. Is unpredictable for service 66. My suggestions for 66 is to wait till Stage 3 opens. Then there will be changes as most of the routes duplicate with stage 3 and stage 2. Loading on service 66 can be vary.
