WITs suggestion to the SAF anyone?

last SG · 2004-01-09T08:10:06+00:00

Erm, actually modern military BA is also designed to stop arty fragments, unless of course, the fragment is a really large piece, bullets are typically harde...

say again??? Confused

the Bear SG

i'm just a reservist so no one cares if we send in stuff like that or not.. mostly ignored anyway...

can someone write in to replace the fricken new SBO with the OLD ONE??

the new one is useless, flimsy, hard to put on, hard to take off, and does not fit anybody in the whole bloody unit..

Icemoon SG

Yes, this SBO belt is seen on the poster for the combat engineer vocation.

I think the belt is the one with holes one right? Think it resembles the one worn by US Army Rangers together with their RBA kit. And US Army Special Force in their SPEAR outfit also?

Icemoon SG

Can suggest removing the velcro and replacing it with clips Very Happy

Since our webbing is copied from the Israeli Ephod, can follow them and upgrade it to a vest in the latest incarnation .. haha

wuming78 SG

u r rite. its called the webbing. we jus loosely equate one wif the other. Wink

wuming78 SG

i get wat u mean. its jus like the normal webbing except it has no poncho pouch? its for the arty and cbt engr ppl, and as u mentioned mabbe the armour as well. those travelling on veh i guess. so no need poncho.

wuming78 SG

the webbing now is already using clips rather than velcro. tts for the centre.

perhaps can suggest something else along this line: all the shoulder straps are attached to the webbing itself by manual winding. alot of us bought clips to replace tt for convenience. mabbe they can make the clips std instead of the normal design.

wuming78 SG

hm.. pardon me for asking, but how come u can be posting here at 1 am den?

laurence82 SG

Yes it is with holes.

There is a poncho pouch, but there are no ammo/grenade pouch.

Quite funny hur?

Icemoon SG

Not funny lah ... they need to throw grenade meh? Rolling Eyes

Icemoon SG

Maybe he attn C at home nuahing? Very Happy

Maybe he COS or what stay in company office accessing internet lor.

wuming78 SG

they need ammo. and prob smoke grenade. std issue.

laurence82 SG

True, although their primary role is combat support, they need weapons and ammo at hand if anything to happen, thats why I was perplexed when I see those pouches missing.Either that, or I got screwed up eyes.

Any CE or Armour guys here?

SingaporeTyrannosaur SG

Introduce body armour to our troops, it has been long prooven to cut combat fatalities by 70 percent…. imagine the money we will save by cutting out 70 percent deaths!

laurence82 SG

Yeah, but primarily to cut down on attrition rate. Higher chances of winning a war.

SingaporeTyrannosaur SG

It has a greater effect then just that, because your troops given a second, even third chance they can stick around longer and cause far more damage.

laurence82 SG

True, but money is not the main priority during war, although its also a factor to consider.

wuming78 SG

interesting suggestion. wonder y mindef hasnt considered? or mabbe they haf jus tt we never use during peacetime trg?

cost? potential increase in heat load? not proven to work (at least in war time scenario)? actualli is the US even making all their soldiers wear body armour for Desert Storm 1 and 2?

laurence82 SG

main worries for us are weight and combat effectiveness, dont want people to comment its 'zo teng'

main worries for commanders are lowering attrition rate and cost effectiveness.
