How to keep a 73km route?

There is a 858 from Yishun to Changi Airport.

Hi mr sbs3004X, I think remains status quo. The direct link from woodlands/sembawang is too great a loss to begin with. If a split is needed, LTA will have done so years back. Cheers. Thanks.

967 not so good to be introduced now till 2020 given that the hub at SEM is about to be built. Not sure if there would be a new interchange though

Agreed. Furthermore, this amendment was made less than a decade ago. If 858 is amended right now, many links are going to be lost and cause confusion with many people. Yes, 967 can cover it already. But do you think many people are going to Hougang since 161 has less loading than most other express services?

Imo, can shorten sv 53 to Serangoon to improve its reliability.
Route:
S’goon Ave 2 > Boundary Rd > Nex > current route to CGA.
Pax at Bishan can transfer from sv 156 to 53.

There is a 858 to CGA and 967 to Sembawang.

858 still calls at the long TPE bus stop as well as the Jalan Kayu roundabout bus stops.

The only problem is loss of direct link from Sembawang/Woodlands to Airport.

It would be a waste of resources if you split 858 and introduce 967... Better to retain 858, since it not only serves the airport but also as an "Intra-town" service.

If 967 were to be introduced, I'd rather have it start from Yishun as there are already many services between Woodlands and Yishun. And 161 does ply from Woodlands to Hougang, so kinda redundant... If you go ahead, it should stop at Sengkang Stn and ply part of Sengkang and Hougang towns (I suggest Rivervale Drive, Buangkok Drive and Hougang Ave 6).
