(The Toa Payoh - Braddell stretch isn't well patronized; perhaps this would bring about more passengers and probably relieve some crowds on 238 during evening peak. Alternatives such as 28 and 73 still trace the original route.)

164: Compassvale - Harbourfront

Provides a distinct express sector from Sengkang to Eunos / Ubi, and somewhat from Clarke Quay to Telok Blangah. Skipped sector between Hougang Int and Ave 3 almost covered entirely by 87 and 151, though coverage is lost after Eunos MRT. Route can also be seen as a semi-express variant of 80.

IN CASE 88 is shortened to AMK (as some forumers have said), I feel there might be room for this service:

Service 71: Ang Mo Kio Depot - Changi Airport (Loop)

- Follows current 88 route from AMK Ave 10 to Toa Payoh, and then use PIE

- Direct service for Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Toa Payoh residents to Changi Airport

- Calls at Jln Toa Payoh and Jln Kolam Ayer bus stops for transfers (e.g. 23 to Tampines / 966 to Eunos, MP)

Limitations:

- Cannot use DDs

(Alternative route is to terminate at Changi Business Park so that DDs could be deployed, although not sure of the demand there)

- Unable to call at ITE bus stop directly for Bishan/TPY students (but within walking distance like 45)

I think this has been proposed b4, which has its pros and cons IMO

Pros: another DIRECT MRT connection via bus to Boon Lay, to relieve loadings on 975 for pax heading to CCK, or the need to change to 172 at old CCK road.

Cons: 405 mainly serves the cemetery during impt seasons, and since your routing is not explicitly stated, i wonder if it would still serve old CCK road end everyday? or just go up directly frm jln bahar to LCK road?

Random thoughts:

- 100, 147, 196, 198 duplicate from Commonwealth MRT to Queensway, and for 147, 196 and 198, all the way to Bukit Merah. One of them could be diverted to Queenstown MRT and Alexandra Rd, to provide connection from Jln Bukit Merah to Queenstown MRT, and complement 195 from IKEA to Queenstown.

- 22, 24, 135, 159, 853 duplicate from Ang Mo Kio MRT to Ave 8 and Ave 1. One of them could be diverted to AMK Ave 3 and Ave 10, to complement 261 which has crazy loading, and provide more connections for Ave 10 residents.

Hi mr array88, different crowds for 100, 147, 196, 198. Cannot really say 100 is duplicating as it originates from ghim moh and it does not go Jalan Bukit merah. 198 is terminating at Bukit merah. So only can say 147 and 196 duplicate each other. Cheers. Thanks.

i agree, but then just curious, is the loading frm old cck road to lck road end heavy at anytime? coz if it is then another duplicating service would be justified
