Reporting to embassy first and then arrange to fly into Spore or an offshore manpower base. Get equipped and train and wait for instructions.

It is the visit of Israeli PM la, commandos deployed to the border and mobilization was activated.

Can’t remember which year’s NDP parade, Malaysia and Indonesia held a joint exercise involving thier cdos doing heli-insertion just outside our borders on the actual day. Our very own CDOs were then deployed and on standby near their trging area. That years NDP was the most tense one i’ve encountered so far…think it was during the indonesia maid incident where the indoneisans were burning our nationa flags…

I noe , practically every1 serving at that time are involved or feel the tense of the moment not just the commando,a lot of other units are involved. Afterall it was Defcon3!!!

AFAIK, it is the most intense moment in the history of SAF, I am sure SAF must have detected some increased military activity in MY that prompted the increased in readiness!

Most probably some wayang from MAF to show their displeasure toward SG about the visit, therefore we have to do likewise, just in case.

gd qns. i think we've already some h/w outside of sg and if we're really undersiege, these h/w will be available.

regarding the 3rd country, i think it is feasible and definitely the de facto policeman will not standby and do nothing. we're afterall one of their ally in the war against iraq etc. i believe we can launch a multi-sided war, the nearest being somewhere in the region....but then, we need to know the invaders before we can plan for the 3rd country support as logistics is a problem when you fight a long distance war.

By getting direct US help, you have signalled an international solution to the conflict. Then you risk breaking up ASEAN. Regional countries will start to take sides. Then you risk being labeled as West vs. Muslim worlds.

ASEAN solution is better as a lot of status quo can be maintained.

I'm sure a lots of people in the military at that time must be afraid and worried. How about you how do you feel? Did anybody in the army thinking of running away? May be have some plan to run to a country when war broke out. If they are very rich. They might be able to buy the citizenship of that country. How about you did you think of running away? Are you able to sleep at night during the crisis? Did your officer mentally prepared you and your unit to be killed? How about non-combat personal like "administrative personnal"? Are there plan to armed non-combat personnal like clerk with weapons? How about NCC? Did the army plan to use the NCC if all hell break loose?

Nono, they try to train and arm Girl guides and Girl's Brigade companys with figthing skills. They also close down SIR to prevent pple from running and they forcingly recruit students from universities and vocational institutes to join the army. Those refused were quietly hanged in Changi Prison. The army is so weak till the government have to seek the para-military forces for manpower aid and Airlines pilots were transferred without advance warning to airforce units. Those pilots refused joined the fate of those students , either be sent to fighting ground units or terminated.

Once a while , there always be some tension moments, whether is due to international or regional incident for example the gulf wars, 911 or with our neighbour etc which will lead to a higher alert in the SAF.

Does it mean that I will go AWOL and try to skip the country, Laughing

Then what happen if there is a war, will I leave my home , my love ones to fend for themselves? Will you? Question

If you do not have a country , a home, your love ones, then what do you have , your miserable life? Crying or Very sad

Sometime one have to really look at one's life and ask oneself what is important, therefore worthwhile to fight for, if you always think for yourself & nothing else then you actually do not owned anything!!!

ha, well, i do think that in war all pilots will be forced commision into RSAF........i even read in Defending the lion city that singapore youth flying club is actually name as a shadow RSAF squadron.........and since we got so many NCC nuts which knows how to wear camo and shot strighter then normal civilians, when we are desperate, why not us them for security or last resort defence.....of course not as a who battalion it self lah, integrate them into other units, let them learn from the soldiers......haha, but anyway, the incident i mention, anyone here fimiliar with it? my dad only knows the malaysia version..........anyone knows what was singapore gov's stand that time??

I seriously doubt if any NCC will be used in combation situations. A few years of NCC foot drills, some shooting...does not qualify one as a soldier. I would trust a over 40+ NSman who had completed his 13 yr cycle with a M16, than a NCC. You can't just take a NCC and throw him into some unit, and expect him to learn on the spot. He will be more of a libility, than an asset. Combat ready is not being about able to wear camo, and shoot a bloody rifle, but much more.

Also, I remember some Geneva Convenction that under 16 are not allowed to be drafted ...or something like that. Also the lawsuits, screams and outburst from the parents! Mr. Green
