Hi guys Iâm back
after so long, sorry I was very busy and didnât have the time to
churn out one long reply pertaining all the qns that was asked
during the KBW minister talk in my sch.
So someone apparently
saw him on the MRT. And it really seem true that it is indeed he
himself, coz he shared to us that he took the MRT frm his workplace
at labrodor.
Pertaining to the
qns, I sincerely apologise not tending to everyoneâs queries during
the talk coz there was this person who asked a really long and deep
qns for the minister. I didnât really ask questions that pertain to
the BCM as he did not mention a single bit during the speech, so I
assumed that it was not apt to ask him about it. Other than that,
there was a question about whether the safety of commuters is
compromised when the train doors closed very quickly on commuters,
endangering them. The minister replied that they are still working
it out to recalibrate the door closing time so that there will be
enough time to allow passengers to alight and board
safely.
Another question
which was in-line with his presentation was about the future of
transport in Singapore. The question was about whether the use of
autonomous vehicles would pose a threat to the current people, such
as bus drivers who will be likely to lose their job when driverless
buses start hitting the roads. The minister replied that while jobs
are lost, there will be other new ones that will be created. He
made use of the analogy of the rickshaw pullers back in the old
days of Singapore, as they were challenged by the rise of taxis and
smth along that line.
Finally, if you guy
are curious about the complicated qns that someone else ask and I
myself was also confused, it is something about the problem of the
rise of income gap and the gini coefficient of Singapore getting
worse where the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer in the
future, and something to do with the transport fares being
unaffordable; and how will Singapore make its people take more
public transport. Basically the guy shld be asking abt something in
relation to the economics syllabus or smth. IIRC the minister said
something along the line of the implementation of car-free Sunday
is one of the few measures to encourage ppl to leave their cars at
home. Itâs rly something along this line as the qns was too
complex. Sorry about that!
Thatâs all I guess,
so yah, once again so sorry for not being able to attend to all of
your questions!
Anyways, 2
observations made that day:
1. My friends didnât know the 5 MRT
lines are operated by SMRT and SBST. They thought all is by SMRT so
ignoranceâŚâŚâŚâŚ.?
2. The minister shared that stats for
the performance of the trains kilometres b4 5 min delay data, and
the rankings are NEL, DTL, CCL, NSL, EWL. So it shows that
something is really really wrong wif SMRTâŚ!
