Any regular takers of 197 here who feels that the frequency of this service is poor? As the frequency can get as long as 15 minutes interval during peak hour...

I love to drive DD on svc 3 for weekends but not for weekdays..Usually the crowds at Pasir Ris would be happy if DD came during peak hours..

My ideal fleet for svc 3 is 13 SD and 6 DD with 4 operating for full day.

Weekdays:Am/PM>SD,SD,DD,SD,SD,DD,SD,DD,SD,SD,SD,DD,SD,SD

Split:SD,SD,DD,SD,DD

Weekends should be 13 Am/Pm,2 Split and 2 TQ 12 SD 5 DD

Give you a tip: check the bus app. Usually a SD will show yellow as any pax > 25 pax shows yellow for SD. For DD, it would need to have >65 pax to show yellow. Most times if it is green, it would be a DD.

Hi mr busanalyser, yes it may have higher probability. However, I don't have the luxury of time during morning peak hours when I rush for work. I still have to contend with possibility of slow traffic along TPE. Normally, when service 3 comes, I board. Just cannot afford to choose SD or DD. Moreover, we all know service 3 has much more SD than DD. If all turn out to be SD, a lot of time is wasted. Cheers. Thanks.

Also depends where you board. Do you get a place to sit? If yes, then not so much of an issue for you. Does your timing justify for DDs? Are there instances when people are not able to board SD?

Hi mr busanalyser, yes I know where to board to have seats. Even when I have no seats, I will wait for a while and bear with it until it reaches TPE stop where quite a number alights at TPE stop. Last time when there is no TPE stop few years ago, people will take service 3 to UMC company bus stop along pasir ris drive 12 where many people alight and change buses. Now most alight at TPE stop for transfer. So in a sense, TPE stop has altered the passengers loading slightly for service 3. Its loading is up down up down up down up down along the route until Tampines. Shall not state the stages of 'up' and 'down' here.

Yes there are times where people cannot board the SD. But this issue is mitigated by the frequency of 3 at peak hours. My work timing is flexible. I can go to company anytime I like. Cheers. Thanks.

Svc 3 off peak between 8-11 mins and 6-8 mins for peak...The most you only stand for a few stops..High loadings start from Pasir Ris St 71 to MRT,Pasir Ris Int to St 21 and from St 21 to Tampines St 21 and Tampines St 21 to MRT bus stop..Crowds at PSR will be delighted if DD came or 2 SD bunching.

Overall i still stand with 13 SD and 6 DD with 3 DD operate full day.

Hi mr carbikebus, high loading from Punggol field to TPE stop too. Another reason why LTA dares not lower down frequency during peak hours is service 3 is the only service for pasir ris st 71 and elias road (ris grandeur residents) to Pasir ris mrt. cheers. Thanks.

Yesterday and today i drive DD for 2 1/2 trip and after meal breaks jump to single deck towards Tampines and off svc back to depot.

Today my trip from Pasir Ris St 71 to Pasir Ris and Pasir Ris St 21 to Dr 8 fully packed with 3 1/4 full on upper deck..

Tommorow only 2 1/2 trip end at Tampines too..2 trips single deck,then mealbreak for 50 mins before jump to DD to Tampines and off service..
