Heard inside info that COE is going to drop again.......the thing that is gonna rise is the road tax and petrol...... Shocked

Ah Wei SG

Hi,

Not too sure where you get your inside information from, but i personally dun agree................

Believe the COE is going up in the next bid...........

Also, road tax is based on a calculation, and it has to do with your car's cc ....... so its not quite possible to raise the road tax from my view.

godane79 SG

ok....the COE thingy...we shall see....once the results come out we will know..hahah..but pls dun flame me if im wrong...

as for the tax stuffs .... since u say it has to do with the car's cc.... y can't LTA review it? since they are the ones who will eventually control the cars ....

Rise in petrol and other stuffs related to cars is to complement the drop in COE prices..... hopefully im wrong.... nobody will want that to happened...but then.. like what i mentioned earlier... its from an inside info....

I don't think that petrol price increases are to complement the COE drop.
The petrol prices are influenced more by global demand rather than local demand. The reason for higher petrol prices here is due to high taxes, overheads, and labour costs.

I don't agree. You just have to drive across the causeway to realise how much more we are paying for petrol compared to the rest of the world. And we are one of the key oil refining centres in the worldas well! And I'm sure the middle east guys are not selling the petrol to us at a higher price than to the M'sians ;-)!!

I thought that the difference in prices in petrol prices in Malysia and us is because our petrol is getting taxed heavily? Rolling Eyes

Petrol demand in Malaysia is not any lower than Singapore.

Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

The petrol in Malaysia is actually being subsidied by the government. And Malaysia do have oil resources that they themselves can tap on. If you compare the living standards and dollar for dollar, the pricing is quite similar.
