I think that person recording the loading at that bus stop for Svc 811 & Svc 812...

On Friday PM, I spotted 2 DDs and 2 bendies on svc 860.

1. A95 (SMRT livery, didn't see rego)

2. E500 (3591B)

3. NWAB (1138M)

4. NWAB (didn't see rego)

Any other HC buses on 860 anyone spotted, or is it only 4?

805 and 860 are probably slated for capacity expansion coz of the new BTO's at N5 and the new N6 batch coming up and folks moving in. 117 will see better usage of its DD's. 812 may also see a boost coz it serves the new batch N6 flats too.

With 860 getting possible capacity boost, 804 may lose its relevance. Those N4 flats at the tail end of the 804 loop has 103/117/805/860 where 103, 117 and 805 provides a more direct link to the MRT or interchange. Most of the 804 route has one or more backups in the form of 103/117/800/803/805/806/860. In fact 860 is a more direct route than 804 from the interchange for folks staying in the N3 and N4 portion of Ring Road since it doesnt make a big round to N2 first.

You are right. 804 has totally lost its loading. You can see in "loading levels" I have documented <25 pax on every bus departing interchange on 804. It has many alternatives.

I do feel AM loading will be better from Ring road towards MRT but PM is quite poor.

I was there the day before, not yesterday and I documented 804 and 860.

Oh I see. Then perhaps they can give some 804 bendies to 860 too. 804 was just a one size fits all solution to that area due to lack of buses back in the TIBS days. Now there are so many more new direct alternatives.

In fact, I think it is probably time to revamp the entire Yishun feeder network. Many old feeders and intra-towns, such as 800, 804, 811 north and 812 west, are extremely winding.

How many board per bus? From what I have seen it can be anywhere between 20-40 pax per bus, but if you observe not even one bus left the interchange with >25 pax (see loading level thread).

I do feel AM loading would still be higher. Hence, can keep its fleet for now, anyway downgraded considerably to 5 SDs, 5 bendies from a full fleet bendy once!

I agree - they def should, especially with new blocks coming up at st 42/43/44/ave 6. Doesn't make sense to keep introducing duplicating feeders but a route rehaul is required. 800/804/811 all quite winding.

860 can take in more DDs. Fleet size in PM is 13 buses (not 19) with 4 HC. Can do more HC buses given that more flats are TOP along Ring Road. And the DDs are doing quite well. Since it is more younger population, many are going upper deck.

After new operator takes over, I wouldn't be surprised if many of Yishun feeder/intra-towns become full fleet SDs:

Full fleet SD:

800, 803, 804, 805, 812

* 800 - has SD loading except for Ring Road >> Interchange (also have sv 804)

* 804 - loading dropped on account of multiple faster services 800, 803, 805, 806, 860 along its route.

* 805 - loading is still low, will take few years for it to warrant HC buses

* 812 - too many buses has spread the loading + 805 takes part of the loading now + many from older flats have moved to newer flats along ring road

Mix of SD/DD:

806, 811, 860 (short trunk)

* 806 - still only service to ave 6 BTOs (should be full fleet DD)

* 811 - only service to ave 6/7 BTOs + ave 4/st 81 & industrial estate (majority DD)

* 860 - fastest MRT connection for Ring Road residents to Khatib (majority DD)

the rigids rarely have standees. Why would you want to put DDS?? Can be considered when loading increases.
