I must say I used to be quite turned off by Acer. This could be
due to the fact that I used to spend over 4K for a Pentium 4
notebook which weighs about 3.5kg - so damn heavy.
Then, during the IT Show '06, I scouted around and pounced upon
Acer TravelMate 3012. I thought I would never get another Acer
again, but eventually still fall back on the brand again - Light
(less than 2kg), Dual Core, 1.66 GHz 667 MHz, 2MB L2 cache, and
cost about $2598..
Quite worth it, really, so do consider Acer if you are on a budget.
If not, go for Lenovo ones.
