Stunned by FC of car

I looked around the forum and realise that this would be the best place to voice my feelings. I noticed that some of the topics with regards to FC of nissan 1.6 auto cars is around 11-14km/l. For those before using synthetic oil, it varies about 9km/l. However, this family car that i recently gotten, bought only last month, a nissan 1.6 auto, is 7km/l . I was shocked and i could really feel the movement of the fuel gauge arrow everytime i drive. 7km/l is really really low. Can anyone help me here.

Nissan cars are notorious for their fuel consumption. So its really nothing to be alarmed. Laughing

not true wad....i've said this many times...my ride is a 2.5L with 4WD and it consumes 9km/L...which is very good liao considering too that its abt 1600Kgs

Driving style needs to be taken in consideration too. If you have a heavy right foot (and being heavy footed is NOT the same as driving too fast – you can drive slow and still be heavy footed) then you’re just burning too much fuel when you drive and your consumption will be sky high.

i am a light footed driver ( those kind that you wouldnt want to drive behind after a red light ). My rpm seldom reaches over 2.6rpm. I am not a working adult and i just finish NS and i seldom use the car ( partly because of the heavy FC)That means average i pump once every week. I heard many of the friends here clocks around 8km/l on a lousy day and 13 on a better day but i simply dont understand why is sunny only at 7km/l . My full tank can only bring me 350km before the fuel gauge lights up. Neutral

Is there anyone i should contact cos i feel that this is not the norm. Also, perviously we own a sunny 1.5 Manual and the FC is not as bad.

i think your 7km/litre is abit excessive...why don't you bring it to tan chong or some mechanic to have your fuel line checked? or at least clarify the issue with the mechanics...

my parents used to own a 2000 1.6A sunny...the FC always hover around 10km/litre (urban/highway driving)...and me and my mom are fairly light-footed drivers...

i'm kinda one of those who speed off and seriously, something must be wrong with your Sunny.

Mine's a 1.6 SS and I avg 450km per tank. UNless you drive within the neighbourhood and never hit the expressways... it's hard to imagine such a result.

Get ur car checked. Hope you find the reason soon.

Sunny fuel tank b4 light up is only 38 litres.. 12 litres is reserve tank.. you can go the NEC website to find out more!! http://forums.delphiforums.com/sunny_club_sg

hi there...our nissan 1.6 full tank is only about 40L.. +/- 5L...Normally the guage light turns on when u use abt 36-38L i think.So if you can get 350 when the guage lights up it means u'r averaging8 to 9 KPL already. I ever tried driving another 80km with the guage light still on...(though quite risky). Just to see how much the "full tank" can go..when i went to refill it totalled about 44L.

What i was told was that my new sunny 1.6 can hold 50 litres before the tank lights up.And only recently, i travelled another 20 km after the lights came up and still, it was alright. that means kimberly, it shouldnt be 38 (normal) + 12 (reserve).

I still find it strange. anyone knows where i can find the exact specs of my car besides the mechanic.I was afraid if i referred to the website that you gave me, it might be a general answer to my question when i am actually looking for a specific one.
i called up my SE and she sounded quite shocked. She told me to check again and i guess i have no choice but to do so. So now, what i needed is to search for the exact answer on how much actually can my fuel tank hold and also how much is set aside for reserve.

Wah...really bad ah. My Mitsubishi SUV DOHC 20 valve intercooler turbo also can get 8km/l when i go heavy foot.
