running up stairs

hi all, any ideas y so many guys like to run up stairs? very often they're walking very slowly in flat roads... but once there's a flyover or else they start leaping and running up the steps... then walk slowly again!!! Shocked stupid to ask but that really puzzle me...

For me, climbing up stairs is tiring, therefore I rather get it over quickly. Smile

taking stairs a few steps at a time impies less energy output mah. + faster then tiring stuff over faster or and more momentum Cool
